www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3186904/Shocking-moment-Northern-California-officer-pulls-gun-man-recording-cellphone.htmlA police officer is being investigated after a video emerged of him pulling a gun on a man recording him from a cellphone. The footage shows a Rohnert Park public safety officer driving toward Don McComas and stopping outside his home as he is filming. The officer looks like he jokingly starts to film him back before getting out of the police vehicle and telling McComas to take his hand out of his pocket. A tense stand-off, lasting several minutes begins as McComas refuses, saying 'I've done nothing'. The officer can then be seen removing his gun from his holster and speaking into his radio as McComas says, 'Put your gun down, really?'

Well, if I'm an officer and a guy has his hand in his pocket, I'm going to be a little on edge not knowing what's coming next. Accordingly, I'd likely draw my weapon "just in case."

That was one of the most confusingly written articles I have ever read.
What I got out of this is that a guy is filming a cop, cop doesn't like it, gets out of the car. Filiming is obnoxious but legal.

Why is filming "obnoxious"? It's a free society. I think the more we film the cops the better. I support body cams.

Cops who try to intimidate by pulling a gun should be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

He has every right to do it, just like I have every right to call you names. Doesn't mean it not obnoxious you just want to argue.

Cops who try to intimidate by pulling a gun should be charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Assault requires someone suffer a physical injury. I thought that was battery. In some jurisdictions assault is defined as the threat of bodily harm that reasonably causes fear of harm in the victim while battery is the actual physical impact on another person. If the victim has not actually been touched, but only threatened (or someone attempted to touch them), then the crime is assault

whatever the terminology, a cop who pulled a gun on someone in order to intimidate should be charged with the crime of using a gun to threaten someone.

Considering how many people are wandering about with firearms, I'd want the guy to take his hand out of his pocket, too. I'm with kent on that one. I'm also in favor of body cams for police officers.
