He'd run the country into the ground if he got into office, but we'd certainly get our daily dose of drama from him. Might increase the # of jobs for journalists substantially

GOP needs to squash this idiot like a bug.
I heard that the best way to run him off may be to ridicule him and make him look stupid - the GOP has some sharp tongued people who ought to be able to do a good job of that.

Everything I want to say about this is against the CoC. Oh, please, so much this. This guy is a laughingstock everywhere he goes around here. And didn't he say he could kick El Chapo's ass? NOW he's upset about getting a death threat? Somebody needs to tell this overbred moron with his outer-space orange 'do that if you poke a drug baron bear, it's very likely that the beast will not only poke you back, but the stick the bear uses will be bigger and deadlier than your stick. Don't start whining now, Donald. People are going to keep poking you until the convention - or until you minimally wise up and realize that running a nation is not what you were meant to do. Developing real estate, bonking beautiful women, building golf courses - stick to that stuff.

Too bad. Reminds me of all the whining Sarah Palin did during the campaign when people "picked" on her and her family. I'm not defending it, especially the family stuff. But it is what it is. People will throw a lot more than shade at you when you're in politics, and if your skin isn't thick enough by the time you become a candidate, you really need to rethink how you will withstand a campaign.

Don't take him on. He's a clown needing attention and will eventually fade away. He's harming the GOP.

I don't see anyone saying that. He is far too entertaining in a buffoonish way. He gives other narcissists a real run for their money.

He's harming the GOP. i agree with this. how people like this have been handled in the past by the GOP is to ignore them. i think that is the best thing the GOP can do. agreeing with him will only raise his standing in the party, and make him a real contender.

I find it interesting because that's NOT what I'm hearing around where I live. We have a substantial "illegal" problem. People here are sick to death of it. I live in an area where people work really hard for fairly low pay. They have had it with working like dogs and having less than people who don't follow the rules have. They are getting behind this guy...big time. They have had it with the "they are just looking for a better life for their families" stuff and want to see something actually done....and he appears to be promising that. People here are kind hearted. They have no issues with medical treatment for sick people - regardless of who they are. They have no issues with education for those who are seeking it. They have no issues with footing the bills for those truly in need, but they DO have an issue with these people continuing to stream in like a tidal wave with no dollars streaming in with them.
I, personally, don't like it because I don't think he has snowball's chance in hell of beating Clinton. I want someone to run who can. Not sure if we have anybody like that, but I'm pretty sure he's not it.
And.....if someone threatened my life, I'd report it also. I'm betting the rest of you would, too. Personally, I try not to antagonize dangerous people, but even if I did, death is not warranted nor are threats of it. So.....
big deal

big deal it is unclear to me why "people where you live like him", but to like a guy when/because he says immigrants are rapists is kinda strange to me. first of all, the comment is proximately wrong and stupid. most immigrants are decent, hard working, and industrious. but secondly, even if you agree that there is a "problem", why on Earth would you think that what The Donald said would help with it?

I didn't say "like". I said "getting behind him". Big difference. I agree with you that most immigrants are very decent people. They work hard and contribute. Most illegals do not. Most don't work at all and those who do work for money under the table that goes directly back to their country. It's ugly and people don't want to believe it but it's true. I certainly can't attest to that being a fact everywhere but it is here and people are tired of it. As to why they think he will help with the issue? They might not be sure, but they are damn sure our current government isn't doing anything about it. I've seen the stats of deportation, etc, that the Liberals want to tout as being all this success in solving the problem. What they don't mention is the ratio of about 2,000,000:1 of others coming in.
I'm just saying......do something to fix our problems or the voters will eventually get tired of those problems and vote for somebody who (they think) will. It's not just Conservatives. A whole lot of Liberals here have had it also. Perhaps this isn't as big an issue for other areas. I don't know.

I don't know. you can use whatever turn of phrase you want. i don't "get behind" anyone i don't like. i could address most of the other issues that you raised, but it would take more time than i have. but the most irritating one of them is the assumption that if i challenge your version of the facts, it is because i "don't want to believe them", rather than they are not true. but let's set all of that aside, and address the issue at hand. do you think Trumps "wall" is a REAL solution to the problem?

Trump is leading all the other Republican candidates in the national polls, so his message is certainly resonating with the base. We can call him a joke all we want, but his numbers are currently going up rather than down.

Plus, the issue at hand was the reporting of a death threat and people insisting he's some kind of a joke that nobody takes seriously. I'm simply stating that's not what I'm seeing. It's a kind of "How's what we are doing working out?" thing, I suppose.

i posted this poll on the Bush thread. i don't think this lead will hold, and it is a rather narrow one.

That would mean we have had 876,842,000,000 coming into America in 2013 alone!Even if GEL misplaced a comma and it's 2,000:1 that's still 876, 842,000!
Deportations in FY 2013
The Obama administration deported a record 438,421 unauthorized immigrants in fiscal year 2013, continuing a streak of stepped up enforcement that has resulted in more than 2 million deportations since Obama took office, newly released Department of Homeland Security data show.

I don't think it will hold either because I don't think he has the self control to stop offending people. Eventually he will go too far and offend his base, but for right now he is getting a lot of support for his position on immigration.
