Tax goddess, overlord (lady?), benevolent ruler of the workfloor... Apparently because so many peeps took today off for an extended weekend I am the ranking person on the floor to approve check requests. For the first time in my tenure here I've been asked to sign check requests for other departments. I have exercised my massive authority so far to approve (wait for it) $63. . . . I'm drunk with power Today the floor, tomorrow the Universe! (yea, I need to get a life. It's sloooow today and I want to go home nowwww)

I once had the power of my own checkbook....there was a time when I was the master of balances. Once, I even knew what went into my checking account each month. Then, one day, some 43 years ago, I said: I Do!.....and all that went away..... Just think of all the stress I've never had to deal with!! Although, one of these days, I need to negotiate about my allowance rate. 50 cents a week doesn't buy much coffee anymore....... Gee, 43 years..do ya think I might be able to get that raised to a dollar??

Me too! My manager is out for several months and I'm the senior person on my team (by title anyway, not time in job). It's not that great. I don'T think I want my manager's job!

I, too, am master of balances. Here are the finances, take care of them. Okay. Balancing check books is not my strong point. When DH and I were first married, he took a look at my check book; and it hadn't been balanced in years. He nearly fainted. And he still handed the work over to me.

When I was in college, I worked as an assistant bank manager. I had the power to order cash from Federal reserve and was completely in charge of our vault every weekend, bc I was the only one who ALWAYS worked Fri nights and Sat mornings. People always used to joke that i should "borrow" the cash from the vault on Fri night, drive up to Atlantic City, double the $$$ and return borrowed cash by Sat morning. The problem? I wasn't 21! so, all that power and I couldn't even use it! ETA: HOWEVER!! I was allowed to sign cashier's checks for ANY amount, so there!
