This article sort of makes the person look like an outstanding citizen, but unfortunately, he wasn't.
The inner city residents have to demand change from within the community if they want change.

They certainly have more fortitude than I will ever have.
I understand that the black community does not perceive them as legitimate parts of the neighborhood, and are outsiders, providing some services, and probably too many liquor stores, but without these immigrant business owners the community has even less day to day businesses at their disposal.

On a side note, Chicago had a really good weekend.
They only shot and killed one person, and only had thirty some shootings.

Either the victims are getting better at not being killed outright, or the shooters were having a bad day hitting their targets 

Chicago did have a seven year old shot yesterday, walking home. Fortunately, just shot in the arm.
He was targeted by three boys believed to be between 11 and 13 yrs old. Witnesses said it was an ambush as the kids walked from behind a garage, shot him, and casually walked down the street away from the shooting.

Baltimore just hit 100 homicides this year.  Any ideas on how to fix the problems in a city like Baltimore?  They have tried a lot of different things, spent a lot of money, and nothing seems to work.

Until they change the way the sentences are served, not much will change.

Any violent crime should be punished with hard labor-rail building, roads building, etc.
3 squares a day and a clean bed and cell, TV and gym is not a punishment, is more of a vacation. Just depriving them of the freedom to move is not enough.
