Mines the toilet paper. I even fix other people's. I do the SAME thing! End of the roll over the top and down the front - always.

I think that must be the way they like it, so I leave it alone. I don't want to be rude. I'd be bugged if someone changed mine. Of course I do it the right way!

As for toilet paper in someone else's bathroom - hell I'm just glad to find it close to the toilet so I don't have to go looking in cabinets for it

Is the fact that I can't stand to see things like pictures hanging in 2,4's considered OCD? I feel more comfortable with 3,5's etc. I am an asymmetric person to the point of being OCD maybe ? I've wanted to tell people if they added just one more item to a picture grouping, etc that it would be more interesting - but I refrain Landscaping Insights A basic rule of thumb in landscape design is to work with odd numbers when trying to create a naturalistic appearance, as opposed to using even numbers which look formal, symmetrical, and regimented. Plant in groups of three, five, seven, or nine as opposed to two, four, six or eight. This is because even numbers are subconsciously divided into equal halves by the mind to reinforce a man-made, orderly aesthetic. Odd numbers cannot be subconsciously divided into equal halves, so the composition is interpreted as more naturalistic and the mass appears more unified. Landscaping Insights

I wouldn't call this OCD. Sounds reasonable to me.

My house is more free-range. Things go wherever they feel like. If my soup is comfortable behind the cat food, it stays there.

I'm a rotator. I rotate the towels in order of when they were washed last. I rotate the canned goods in the cabinets. I rotate food in the fridge. I also have a laundry rotation. I have it separated in baskets in the order it is to be washed according to water temperature. I also have certain towels in the bathroom that start out on the towel rack for hands, then move to the side of the tub to use as a bath mat. After it's been there for a couple of days, it goes into the laundry rotation. They are black and everyone knows not to use the black towels for their bodies or else.
Is that weird?

Heh heh. If you'd install it CORRECTLY, I wouldn't have to fix it. Can someone please tell the girls that it is not correct form to leave the empty roll on the roller and put the new roll on top of the sink!

Screws don't have to be aligned and carpet fringe can do whatever it wants to. I can even sleep quite soundly with dishes in the sink.

If I had any quirks, then they all went dormant with my 3 little kids running around the house. Maybe they'll resurface when they all move out.

My toilet paper sits on the back of the toilet. And I hate putting gas in a vehicle before the warning goes off... This has me thinking, as all my 'desire to have things a certain way' are the exact opposite of what you'd apparently expect. Im often told that I'm 'so organized'... And I can run things and organize things and design multiple checklists to make sure everyone gets everything gets done on time, etc... But that isn't because I'm natualy that way. Its because I'm naturally nonlinear and scattered. So I do those things to combat my natural tendencies....so... I think my 'opposite' kind of this is the way it should be things, are like my last hold on the chaos my nature actually craves... Does that make sense? The bolded is me all the way. I get praised at work for my ability to organize, document, create procedures and checklists, etc. It's me completely overcompensating for my natural tendencies for disorganization. It always ends up being the "what is your worst trait" (or something like that) during an interview. I explain I'm naturally very disorganized, and because of that, I've learned x skills for documentation, etc, turning my negative into a big positive. ETA: for vacation though, the chaos comes in handy. I'm pretty "go with the flow" and find adventure in getting completely lost. I semi "plan" a day before, just deciding what direction we'll head, and one or two things we want to see in that direction, and leave the rest of the day open and spontaneous. And, if we hit a roadblock, I just change directions and find something else. Now that the kid is older, I'll be able to do this even more. Before, I always had to have a room booked in advance, because I didn't want him worried I might not find a place to sleep, kind of a safety thing. But now, he's cool with showing up somewhere and finding what we can.

I like things done a certain way/order. I asked my psychiatrist once, if I had OCD. He laughed and told me absolutely not. Pantry items would all have their labels facing front, largest items in the back, smaller in front. Yep, and all the vegetables are lined up in one area, soups in another etc. I can tell you where in my junk drawer/cupboard/toolbox, etc, to look for a particular item. I don't go crazy over it though. It's just the way I prefer it. You're right! I thought that the "like items" together was an obvious statement. Apparently not! Especially since my pantry has been known to find pasta on three different shelves, soups mixed with fruit and popcorn packages buried on the floor behind the dog food. No, "like items" together is normal. I group mine by purpose/ethnicity. Baking supplies go together in one section. One whole shelf is my international shelf (Thai, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, and Vietnamese) One shelf has the veggies/tomato products. Breakfast items, jelly, syrup, fruit and popcorn on another shelf. It's completely normal!

Where to begin with this... so I am not a compulsive neat freak by any means, in fact I live with a fair amount of disorganization daily and it (generally) doesn't bother me. That said, I have huge issues with symmetry - visually and sensory, if that makes sense. I'll make an effort to straighten things like crooked photos, which bothers me a ton, and other things that aren't visually even bother me. But my biggest thing is harder to explain. If I get a feeling, like a scratch, or cold, or heat on some part of my body, I need to replicate it to balance it on the other side. Example - I bump my knee in just the right place, it bothers me a ridiculous amount until I also bump my other knee and the feelings are the same on both sides. Same with cold or hot sensations, way more with cold. DH makes sooo much fun of me for it! but at least we can laugh at it, lol. I thought this was only me for the longest time until I was talking to a woman I know and somehow this got brought up, she said she does the same thing and it's probably some level of OCD. I seriously thought I must be insane, but I bet it's more common than I think.

I do that kind of stuff sometimes Cael. Or like I'll walk in the living room by one entrance, and so then I have to walk out by that entrance (loop to kitchen)... Or it will 'feel wrong'. If I go out the wrong way I'll have to walk back out and go the right way or it will bother me.

Is checking to make sure you sat your alarm....like 10 times....OCD? How about checking your doors to see if they are locked....at least 3 times before bed? I'm not sure it's OCD or if it's that I don't trust my brain to remember I already did it.

I have a friend who has to put everything back exactly where it came from and I used to envy her that trait until I realized "that she will never experience the thrill of finding something that she thought was lost forever" I get that thrill about once a week Hey, I'm easily amused!!

My fridge is organized in a specific way and I always put things back in the same place. It drives me nuts when company comes and don't understand my system. I chalk that one up to having a french door fridge. If things are put away correctly I only have to open one side, but if things are put in wherever they fit I have to open both sides to find what I'm looking for. YES!!! DH's gluten and dairy free stuff is on the left side. The kids and I have the right side! Since we outnumber him, condiments we use (ketchup, mustard) go on OUR side, not his!!!
