That was dumb. Not really part of government and economics either.

Stupid move on the teacher's part.
At least he quit before he got fired. Now he won't have to lie on his resume. Good luck though finding another teaching job in your community.

It was interesting. I do not know how much was actually true, or actually false, on what was handed out, but a dumb move on the teacher's part.
Anyone old enough to remember when we actually had Christmas trees decorated in the primary grade classrooms? Heck there was always one in the hallway at the main entrance in our schools while we grew up. I imagine if this teacher asked the students to bring in a "Christmas tree" and decorate it, the result would have been the same.

A lot of it was true- but the assumptions and conclusions were heavily biased- and of course it had no place in a class on government and economics.

I remember being forced to sing songs about things I believed to be absurd. Virgin birth? I knew where babies came from.

I remember some songs, whether overly religious, I am not sure, to be honest, just "Christmas classics" so to speak. In early primary, I do think I was oblivious to virgin births. As far as the Christmas trees, I cannot remember any religious overtones with it. It was more of a holiday type thing, no different than fall foliage and pumpkins in and October and November for Thanksgiving.

Holiday giving trees at schools need help

A holiday giving tree, is a hard call. The intent is to raise funds or garments for poor people who may not afford the items. When you see them in a retail establishment, they do not really represent "Christmas" or Christ, as originally intended. Usually for underprivileged children for mittens and coats, etc, for a cold winter. I see your point, but not sure there is a problem. I am sure lawyer can find a problem with it.

We sang religious and non-religous Christmas songs. One song the nuns told us we could not sing was Away In A Manger because it was written by a Protestant.

I know my school did this past Christmas. It isn't the first school I have worked for that has had Christmas trees or decorations either.
