With all those blond eyebrows I need to adjust my mental image of quite a few of you. So question: What is your natural hair color? I'll start: very dark brown when young, but white now (colored to be just a little lighter than what I started life with )

Dark brown once, salt and pepper now (more salt than pepper). I don't color it.

Started out strawberry blond now a kind of reddish brown. There's a few gray hairs but they're hard to find.

Medium brown, with some hints of reddish/auburn, especially in the summer. It was a little darker when I was little. My mother, her whole immediate family, and my brother are all redheads or blonde. I have this one bright fire-engine red hair in the front of my head, always grows in that way. Once I swore it grew in gray, but it hasn't again, so at this point at 32 I still don't have any grays, that I or anyone else has been able to verify! DH has redheaded cousins and one nephew is a redhead, so we may win the redhead lottery when we have kids!

Blonde here. I call it 'honey' but it's EDIT: Similar to blonde 4. The more I'm in the sun, the lighter it gets. It's on the darker side up top now because iv'e been inside all winter. If the weather starts cooperating, that's going to change soon. When I was little, it was a EDIT: It looked like Blonde 02. I got more tones as I grew older. When my dad was a young man, his hair looked like mine. Now that he's going gray, he's got silver and blonde going on. It's a little disconcerting (and very bright). EDIT: I had to go get a chart. This was too hard using words

Blonde. Eyebrows and eyelashes are white, but the rest is just plain old ash blonde. I think I'm starting to get some silvery greys, because there are a few that are a little thicker and shine differently in the sunlight. Hoping I go silvery white like several of my grandparents, because I don't want to have to dye my hair. I'm too lazy and it grows too fast to keep up with.

It's like all the hairs that were darker tones turned into silver hairs and the bright blondes he kept. It's an interesting effect. I bet it would look pretty on a lady

Redhead, a little lighter than when I was younger. Going white at the temples. Lashes and brows are brown.

I'm reddish-brown but I have to dye it every month. I've been going grey since I was 20 (runs in the family) and now at 41 if I didn't use colour I would be predominantly grey. Women in their 60's and 70's with grey hair can look quite lovely but women in their 30's and 40's look more than a little hag-like! Just my opinion and I don't want to offend anyone .

My natural color is a dull dishwater blonde . I've spent a lot of years putting highlights into it so it looks more like a light golden brown (05 in CarolinaKat's chart above, post #4). As I'm getting older and grey and white hairs are starting to pop in I'm still highlighting it (not coloring it, just highlights) and I'm turning blonder with the mix of highlights and white. Right now I look like 07 in post #4, heading for 06 as an old lady .

I'm a redhead but I do dye to so it's close to my natural color. My hairdresser tells me I still have a lot of red at the crown, but my hairline is now going white. I've been coloring it for about 20 years now and don't want to ever stop doing it. If I let my hair go too long between colorings, when I get it done every asks if I've lost weight, changed hairstyles, etc.
I just look better with the red hair. Besides, DH loves red hair.

I could say almost all of this as well, except for my nAtural pre-gray color was a lot like my current box-color: golden mahogany. (And I'm 42)

More brown than dishwater blonde. I streak like nobody's business in the summer though. I've had beauticians ask me who did my highlights . I've been going grey/white since I was 16 and my temples are almost all white now. I'd look totally hot if I were a dude. Chicks just don't rock it as well.

Mine is a dark chocolate color with a few whites at the temples. I dye it milk chocolate brown, I think it was that color or even lighter when I was a kid. I am not sure how long to keep the coloring up. Dad's hair was very light blonde when he was a kid, a medium brown as he got older, and now is white. My mom's hair was originally black and is now white with a few black hairs mixed in. She never dyed it. My aunt (her sister) dyes it black with brown highlights and has done so for years, and it's amazing how much younger she looks. No offense meant to anyone, just the way I see it.

My hair is medium to light brown. I am getting a few greys so I use natural instincts every few months or so when I notice it is looking dull.

My grandmother called my hair dishwater blond though I think I've darkened some as I aged. I dye it bright red and have done so for a couple years now. I always get compliments on it and how well it works with my skin tone. Makes me wonder what was wrong with my natural color, is it really that bad?

My hair is the same color and texture as Bernadette Peters' -- auburn and very, very curly. I got called Shirley Temple all the time as a kid.

Born blonde but darken until dark brown now has silver highlights but still mostly dark brown. I am 66 and have fewer gray than some do before 50. My brother got a haircut at 50 and said they cut all the brown off.

MY SIL started dying her hair bright red when she was 16. Her hair is naturally dark brown (like DH's). Her now husband noticed her for the first time the Monday she came back to school after the initial Dye job. She's been dying her hair red for 16 years now, and isn't ever going to stop. My BIL bitches if he can see too much of her roots...

So many redheads! It's interesting, since there don't seem to be so many of us in real life, that there is such a high concentration on YM.
I'm also what I refer to as auburn or red, though I have been told several times that the correct term for the color of my hair is Titian.
It was more of a golden red when I was younger, and has darkened a lot over the years. In the summer if will get a lot of gold highlights.

Strawberry blonde when I was a child and darkened as an adult to a darker version. When I lived in TX, I wound up with blonde streaks in it from the sun. When I stopped spending so much time in the sun (moved north), and reached 50, it turned a dull, dishwater dark blonde with grey.
Now Nice and Easy 8A takes it back to what I had in TX.

Dark brown once, salt and pepper now (more salt than pepper). I don't color it. Aw, mine, too. The "salt" part is in streaks now. It's a little freaky sometimes. Underneath, most of the hair is still dark brown. On top (where everyone can see it, of course) is where the silver is. Figures.

Lordy, I have to go get the box out of the trash to tell you what color my hair is Reminds me of my gramma. A redhead to the end, though heaven only knows what the real color was. She used to refer to herself as a "readhead" though. As in, "I haven't read the box, so I don't know the exact shade, but it's red enough for me." Lord, I miss that woman.

I like the fact that my florida hairdresser has been with me for so long that she remembers my natural color and comes pretty close. I'm sure I'm an awful grey and white combo.

Strawberry blond as a kid, I guess it's a darker strawberry auburn now? There's a lot of red and blond with some brownish red in the under layers. I guess my hair is coppery?

My hair is the same color and texture as Bernadette Peters' -- auburn and very, very curly. I got called Shirley Temple all the time as a kid. This is pretty funny. I actually got to meet Mid over lunch one day. My wife knew that I was meeting her. When I got home that evening she asked me what Mid looked like. First thing I said was that she had hair just like Bernadette Peters. I'm guessing she told her husband that I look like Bradley Cooper.
