If global warming is real, and if food and water become scarce, then it could very well happen. Only people with money or goods worth bartering will have access to food and water. It is not unheard of in the world when money for goods is scarce. Iraqi women: Prostituting ourselves to feed our childrenBAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- The women are too afraid and ashamed to show their faces or have their real names used. They have been driven to sell their bodies to put food on the table for their children -- for as little as $8 a day. "People shouldn't criticize women, or talk badly about them," says 37-year-old Suha as she adjusts the light colored scarf she wears these days to avoid extremists who insist women cover themselves. "They all say we have lost our way, but they never ask why we had to take this path." A mother of three, she wears light makeup, a gold pendant of Iraq around her neck, and an unexpected air of elegance about her. "I don't have money to take my kid to the doctor. I have to do anything that I can to preserve my child, because I am a mother," she says, explaining why she prostitutes herself. Anger and frustration rise in her voice as she speaks. "No matter what else I may be, no matter how off the path I may be, I am a mother!" Iraqi women: Prostituting ourselves to feed our children

Did you even read the bill oldcoyote? The word may is used.
Whereas the United Nations has recognized, as one of the central organizing principles for its work, that “no enduring solution to society's most threatening social, economic and political problems can be found without the full participation, and the full empowerment, of the world's women”;
Whereas the United Nations Development Programme 2013 Human Development Report has found that the number of people living in extreme poverty could increase by up to 3,000,000,000 by 2050 unless environmental disasters are averted by coordinated global action;
Whereas climate change is already forcing vulnerable communities in developing countries to face unprecedented climate stress, including water scarcity and drought, severe weather events and floods, which can lead to reduced agricultural productivity, food insecurity, and increased disease;
Whereas climate change exacerbates issues of scarcity and lack of accessibility to primary natural resources, forest resources, and arable land for food production, thereby contributing to increased conflict and instability, as well as the workload and stresses on women farmers, who are estimated to produce 60 to 80 percent of the food in most developing countries;
Whereas food insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health;
www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-concurrent-resolution/29/text
Are some conservatives just obsessed with anything mentioning sex? Because its so expected that displaced poor people might need to resort to begging, theft, and prostitution to survive.

Strange Does the background look like that in the California House of Representative or do you think she just may be at a convention and acknowledging someone in the audience? I believe it is the latter.

Breitbart, the slant meisters. I noticed the last sentence of the article said something totally different than the actual bill. The author of the article wants you to believe it was written because women have the best ideas on global warming.
If you read the actual text to understand, instead of slant, it reads that women should be part of the global dialogue on climate change not just men.

Strange Lee was the lone vote against the Afghanistan War in 2001. i have a lot of respect for her as a pacifist for that. does she say kooky things? of course. but nothing on the level of Aiken's vagina death ray comment.

Geeze, who would have thought that my 1st reply would get more attention than the OP? Oh, and note to self - always remember when red line across the back of a picture of a person means DNC!!! Oh and another note to self - never post from tablet without glasses - spelling/punctuation in prior post is horrible

It was done very intentionally. Lets look at your posted reaction to it: Is the lady in the link/picture Barbara Lee? She sure seems excited and happy about the announcement. Strange Doesn't it make her seem like a weird duck to have that look making that announcement? That is why that picture was selected.

Tell me what else women can do during periods of war in their country and famine. What else can they do. If they can do something else to feed themselves and their families, why do so many cross country borders seeking refuge in refugee camps. With your line of thinking, there should be no such thing as a refugee camp.

"Encourages the use of gender sensitive framework in developing climate change policy"
That I believe is on the bill. There nothing however about women stripping and prostituting if the climate changes.
Are those people at breitbart on crack or something?

All the words "climate change" should be replaced with "population growth" and the word "climate" should be replaced with "population" in your UN cut/paste. At least they would be addressing the real problem.

Sounds like a character from cartoon to me. I just clicked on to see what women turning to hooking was all about. Thought maybe I could get some pointers for a side business - well more in the line of madame of the house......

Seriously Tennesseer, my point is women are capable of so much more in times of difficulty than just selling their bodies. Men manage to survive without doing so. However if you want to continue to stick to your belief that is all the female gender is capable of in times of duress then you are, of course, free to do so.
