Am watching NCAA semi-finals on tbs and just saw an ad for Honey Maid products. It showed a family with two Dads and a couple of kids. It ended with the words "We Serve Everyone". Very nice.

yeah, but it won't solve the problem, unfortunately. there are plenty of bigots that ate at whites only restaurants in the 50's.

They're not trying to solve the problem - they're trying to sell product. How do you know they are not trying to solve the problem? Businesses can have more then one motivation.

They're not trying to solve the problem - they're trying to sell product. And along with selling product, also trying to oh, just maybe open up a teensy bit of dialogue. Kinda like the mixed- race family in the Cheerios commercial. Oh, my, my, my...plenty of came out of the woodwork on that one. Sent General Mills/Cheerios sales soaring while making the haters' heads just spin out of control. Kinda fun to read their posts, actually, and wonder when they will slither back under their mossy logs.

Missed that one. Now I have to go look for it... I searched the interwebs for it. If you can find it, please post it if you can. It wasn't hard to find. I simply Googled Cherios. One of my options was 'Cherios Commercial' and there it was. A Youtube video of the commercial and comments. Read the comments.

billisonboard - I was talking about the Honeymaid one - It will have to wait until lunch for me to search when I can boot up my tablet. I'm blocked from most social media at work...

Well they locked up the gay and lesbian crowd with the ad, but they might have already had the group. Now how many Baptist or other Christian groups, just threw them in the garbage?
It can work both ways, but I do give them credit. Just less than a month ago, remember Starbucks CEO wanted to discuss "race" with his customers. It did not work out too well for them.

Kinda fun to read their posts, actually, and wonder when they will slither back under their mossy logs. That teensy bit of dialogue also - coincidentally? - seems to be making them a decent profit, so you'll have to excuse my skepticism. This was an interesting article from about a year ago that I think you'd like.
www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2014/03/10/honey-maid-mondelez-coca-cola-cheerios-diversity-commercials/6131151/
Maybe they are doing it out of the goodness of their heart, but I need more proof than a commercial. Cheerios were the other brand with a heart-warming commercial? According to their website, General Mills sells product in:
Here's how those countries view homosexuality:
KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia): Prison sentences of several months to life, fines and/or whipping/flogging, castration, torture or death can be sentenced on first conviction. A second conviction merits execution. UAE: deportation, fines or prison time (unclear if the death penalty applies). Illegal in the emirate of Dubai Penalty: Up to 14 years imprisonment Illegal in the emirate of Abu Dhabi Penalty: Up to 10 years imprisonment Kuwait: Male illegal Penalty: Fines or up to 6 year prison sentence Female always legal
I got bored with it, but I think you can see the trend. It seems to me that they'll sell to anybody they feel they can make a $ off of, regardless political or cultural viewpoints. That's where my skepticism comes from. If you like the commercials though, feel free to buy the product. I can't say I've seen the commercial (or really care what racial make-up the family is in their commercials). I buy Cheerios because they taste good though.
yep. they are about 200 years behind the US. hopefully they will catch up. in the mean time, we have our own injustices to address.......

They actually have a whole series of ads. One shows a single mom, one shows a divorced couple and step-parents, and the two dads one. I am not sure it will make anyone run out and buy graham crackers. From the looks of America, very few seem to buy groceries with their conscious. I am not a fan of their products, so I am not protesting, but I am also not buying.
