The Senate has brought forth a bill (SB04201501) to add 15 days to the calendar year. The House has just introduced similar version. The 15 days created would each be about 1 hour shorter than a current day. The bill would create a new Federal Department Of Time to oversee the change. The CBO estimates the additional 15 days will generate a 4% increase in federal revenues. Income for workers would also increase with 15 additional work days. There will be, however no increase in the number of months as this would entail an increase in the cost of living. People would have 13 monthly payments instead of the current 12. Finally 15 additional shopping days would increase the sales tax revenues to states and local governments. Thoughts?

Oh god please no. I have a hard enough time with daylight savings time.
How about they just do their job? They wouldn't need 15 more days in the year if they would quit kicking the can down the road and cooperate with each other.

Yup cuz having an entirely different calendar than the rest of the world is a good idea. And that won't screw up the season's or ya know increase any costs for the many things you're charged not by month on.
Gah! If only they spent time on fixing problems instead of coming up with new dumbass ones.

Wyouser is a natural-born joker. Of course today is AFD. I would expect nothing less from Wyouser.

Well to be fair it IS on current events and does seem like something that would be posted here. I should probably be worried about how little faith I have in our Congress if I was willing to believe this was a serious proposal.

LOL,
I looked at that this morning and thought is this for real it just seem too ridiculous for words, and then it hit me! Wait it's April Fools! No one had posted yet, and I didn't want to spoil his fun.
It is really too bad that we expect Congress to do such stupid stuff nowadays that we could even begin to find this plausible.

I knew it couldn't be for real because it implied Congress was actually working, on an actual bill, and that there seemed to be actual agreement to pass it.
This from a government body that couldn't sucessfully perform a fire drill without first forming special committees, having hearings on it and running their mouths about it on the Sunday morning talk shows.
