I've sat through "bits." I've never made it all the way to "pieces." I'm guessing it's one of those shows were viewer ratings are much, much higher than critic's ratings. Doesn't say much for the American public if they need to watch "smart" people do dumb things to make themselves feel good.

(Tall can get me to laugh. ) Why don't you sum them up and get back to me? Why? I still don't know what your point was, it being such a ridiculous post in the first place. I was pointing out to EVT that he picked a video with very few views to make his point. Your comment struck me as funny because it boils down to "I don't know what your point is, and assuming it's thus and such, even though I'm not sure how many total views either of these two videos have Internet-wide, I'm sorry to inform you you've failed miserably. Again. Note the 'miserably'. And the 'again'. And the 'miserably' one more time." It's one of your endearing idiosyncrasies to devote roughly 20-75% of each post to pointing out how your opponent's viewpoint is unspeakably bad (or, on rare occasion, how your own viewpoint is beyond contest). Your actual argument gets sandwiched into the remaining 25-80% depending on your disposition at time of post. I'm sorry for badmouthing Mr. Carlin, sir. Do get back to us when you're done scouring the internet for duplicates of the videos.

The guy behind it did two and a half men- which I think is stupid. In fact the only show that that guy did that was even watchable was Dharma and Greg. Not a fan of sitcoms.
I did like Married With Children Liked The Office for a while. Was a fan of MASH back in the day.

I got a chuckle out of some of Leslie Nielsen's slapstick movies like "Wrongfully Accused", just because of how over-the-top goofy they are. The only kind of stand-up comedy I've ever found funny is improv. Some of the improv routines at Second City got me laughing. I can't recall the names of the comedians. The only sitcom I was ever able to tolerate was "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" decades ago. Even then it was more a sense of being entertained than a sense of "ha ha" funny. I have some extended family members that love "Big Bang Theory". I've sat through bits and pieces. To me, it's just actors behaving in ways Hollywood producers think that intelligent or eccentric people act. The characters make poor decisions for sake of plot hijinks, and off they go like monkeys in a circus. If I cared for that kind of thing, I'd get my dose of it from real people in YM.
OK so you like the 'who's line is it anyway' variety of comedy. And Nielsen? The first thing I think of is Police Squad or Airplane!
Did you find Airplane! funny?
Did you ever watch Seinfeld?
"Who's Line Is It Anyway" was... OK, I suppose. I seem to recall chuckling at a few of the skits. I've never seen "Airplane!" I've watched several episodes of Seinfeld, including many of the most famous ones. In some cases I can recall taking an interest in the plot line, but again it was more a general sense of interest than a "ha ha" feeling. It was also a bit "before my time". I was 7 years old when it came on the air and 16 when it went off. I don't recall watching it in syndication. A lot of the humour probably went over my head.

I go from memory- I have seen Carlin at least 10 times- if I remember a bit and post it, it is just the first one that pops up. Don't care if it has 2 views.

Well, I picked the videos, so there is your first mistake. And as I said later, I grabbed it at random from well over a dozen (if not more) of the same bit. It was not meant to make a point about viewership. It was to show you the bit, which did not at all comport with your take on Carlin.
It's actually my duty to point out ignorance and stupidity where it occurs. If that bothers you, don't post any.

I sure as shit misread you. So go watch Airplane!, listen to some Rush (A Canadian band), read some PKD and get back to me when you grow up And maybe watch Carlin- Complaints and Grievances, Carlin on Campus, or another show

Not a chance that I will believe that. Much of his comedy was not at all that way. The difference between baseball and football, for one. And his bit about "Stuff" for another. (Just to name two off the top of my head.) His social commentary probably focused on that a lot, but that seems natural. After all, there is no need to engage in social commentary if everything is going well. That commentary by its very nature addresses (at least perceived) problems or ills. I suppose I'll have to re-watch some of his videos to see more of his "comedy" rather than commentary. Fortunately, I've got (by actual count) 14 of them in my library.

Yes. It made me think of you. That is nice but did it also make you think of the East India Company? That would be wonderful.

funny, but kinda lame, in that it doesn't actually address the core issue involved.

the original article doesn't address the core issue, either.
