Everyone should go out in freezing weather with wet hair. It's kind of fun. If it's cold enough it freezes and you can hear the locks tinkle against each other as you move...very festive. Just don't try to bend the strands. Well, it's not the most flattering look, but it won't kill ya.

I'm guessing these aren't teenage boys... LMAO!!! I'm not a teenage boy either but it takes longer than that to shampoo and condition/rinse my hair! But at least 20 minutes are for steaming my sinuses open so I can breathe. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

No 5 minute showers for me! Why do you think I keep praying for rain? It's not like I like rain that much, but I love my shower and for that we need water.
let it rain, let it rain, let it rain...

Cold makes no difference. Blow drying turns my hair into a giant frizz ball. Air dry is the only acceptable option. It will probably be 2 degrees when I leave for work in the morning. And you haven't caught pneumonia yet?! What about a diffuser? I've heard those work well to dry curly hair without frizz. I've never tried it, so I can't confirm or deny. Old wive's tale! You can't catch a cold from going out with wet hair. It's the virus that does it and either it's there or it's not.
If I'm not shaving, I can be done in 8-10 min. I have long hair that I don't dry either, but I get up early enough to allow it to be mostly dry before I leave. Makeup takes maybe 10 min.

I only took 5 minute showers when a) they were cold, not even warm in El Salvador, and b) in Ghana in the village we stayed in, wait that wasn't even a shower it was a bucket bath. at home I sure as hell don't take 5 minute showers but traveling I can do it real fast. I have pretty long hair and omg, I hate having to blow dry this time of year! It wastes time and dries it out. When I air-dry and put a teeny bit of gel in it, it waves quite nicely and dries with nice body, which it doesn't have when I have to blow dry it. Ugh.

I'm with Malarky (dude, really, are you my lost sister? I think we could share a closet too--new hoodies and jeans!) On work days, when I'm in the vanpool, I have to be out the door by 5:15. I'm not a morning person, so I sleep as long as I can, so set my alarm for 4:25 at the earliest (sometimes I hit snooze). Showers are 5 minutes (below shoulder length, wavy/curly hair). No blow drying, because of frizz. If I try to put a brush through it once it's dry, there is frizz. Hot, cold, whatever. It's not like I'm walking that far, from the driveway to the car, from the car to the van... Also let the dog out, feed her and fill her water bowl, make coffee, sometimes put on makeup (limited because most days I get grungy at work, and it would sweat/get wiped off anyway). Make sure I didn't get any paperwork overnight that my son forgot to have me sign, pack my lunch, and get out the door. Washing/conditioning hair never took much extra time (put conditioner on, wash rest of body, rinse conditioner out). Now, on the weekends, 20 minutes easy, I don't want to get out.

I have two teenaged boys, can someone tell me how to get them to take 5-min showers? The older one has to get out of bed at least one hour before he has to leave or he's going to be late. In his defense, he's out of bed on his own by 6:00 every morning. The younger one stills needs a cattle prod to get him moving.

If the shower time is the issue, turn off the hot water heater right after they get in, they'll only get a few gallons of hot water... As for the rest, no idea, takes my son half an hour+ just to crawl out of bed.

You can't 'catch cold' fro cold. However, a body working to regulate temperature wil not be working to fight off germs... A quick ru fro car to building is unlikely to hurt , but longer term than that could be a issue...

We have the same boys, except my "longer shower" boy CANNOT get out of bed -- not even with 2 alarms blaring beside his head. So, he starts late, and then that just cascades down the whole morning routine for everyone. I wish they made shower nozzles with timers on them... ETA: they do!!!!! (off to buy one…anything is worth a try…)

Up at 3:55 am. Showered, dressed, makeup and out the door at 4:30. I have long curly hair. I comb it out in the shower with conditioner as part of the routine and don't dry it. Saves a lot of time and frizz. What about when it's cold? Or is that not a problem where you are? The hair freezes. Then it thaws. Then it dries. No problem.

I'm a 5 minutes shower person. I had laser removal done, so no shaving. I don't shampoo my hair every day because it gets to dry, I just wet it. My skin is too dry to use soap every day, so I just use soap on the limited parts that need daily washing.
I love to linger in the shower if I have time, though.

(off to buy one…anything is worth a try…) It's partially my fault, when I redid their bathroom a couple of years ago I built a really nice, large shower. I did it so when they move out I can get in with my walker (or wheel chair, if needed). It's like a giant steam room.

Five minutes if I don't do my hair. Like Malarky, I have long curly hair. Unlike Malarky, I use a blow dryer/diffuser combo. My hair will literally never dry in 24 hours if I don't, because there is so much of it. I don't dry it to 100% dry, just to about 2/3 dry.

I'm more of a bath person, so showers are for when I'm in a hurry. If I'm not shaving I can get in and out in about 5 minutes.
Baths OTOH...

I'm out the door in 30 minutes. I shower at night. That's 20-25 minutes. My hair takes forever and a day to air dry. If I put it up then it never dries. Whether I blow dry it straight or let it air dry there's still some frizz. I shower at night also.....that way I can sleep on my hair and it cuts down on the amount of time it takes to flatiron....plus I'm sure if I got in a nice hot shower in the morning I would never get out.

Usually about 10 minutes in the shower - 15 if I'm washing my hair. Then dry my hair, get dressed, makeup, eat breakfast and out the door in 45 minutes to 1 hour.

I shower and wash my hair at night, go to bed with wet hair. In the morning (looks like a witch) I use hot rollers and put on make up. My morning routine is easy. There's no way I could blow dry my hair because it would take forever.

I wouldn't be able to sleep on a damp/wet pillow - which would also get cold during the night. And wouldn't all that moisture from your hair cause the pillow develop water mark stains & mildew? Yuck!

I have never had an issue with it. It dries while you are sleeping and no stains here. I don't cease to move when I'm sleeping. If I go to bed with wet hair I towel dry my hair and/or have had it wrapped in a towel while getting ready for bed. And from rolling over occasionally there's enough airflow that all of my hair dries, the pillow stays dry, and there's no staining or mildew. I also don't shut the furnace off and open all the windows wide open, so the pillow doesn't get cold. A slight amount of water from freshly washed hair is probably the least offensive fluid that might be found in a bed. If one drools you might leave drool and mildew stains on the pillow, I don't know.

The pillows will smell just as nice when sleeping with freshly shampooed dry hair.
Going to bed with damp hair is like putting on a pair of damp pj bottoms to sleep in.

I am in almost constant motion when I sleep. I have my hair in a ponytail when I sleep. I'd hate to see what it would look like in the morning if I went to bed with wet hair. I wake up with an afro as it is.

I'd rather be shot than get out of bed one second sooner than I have to. Years and years of having to get up early has not made me actually willing to get up early. I'm a long shower taker. Run out of hot water long shower. I would kill anyone who cut my hot water off. I'd never do that to my kids either. It's just mean. I don't spend lots of money on activities so they can take as long a shower as they want.
