My ODS, the kiddo born 2 months premature who needed tens of thousands of dollars worth of PT, OT, Speech Therapy, tutoring, 10 years on an IEP, a 504, etc., who has the biggest, kindest, most generous heart, the best belly laugh of anyoneI know, and a positive, optimistic view of life...committed to play lacrosse at a Division III college today. The school is the best fit for him academically and socially. It is 8 hours from home on a good day, so he will get the TOTAL college experience.
Love you, ODS!!!! Happy trails and all the best to you.
Love, Mom

Oh, I love lacrosse. And how totally awesome for you, GRG, and for your DS! But wait, I thought all of you were admitted parental failures. I mean, there have been those threads where y'all have confessed to some pretty questionable things, yanno.

Congrats!
I have a son who was a "late bloomer", had ADD and immature issues all through school. He never fit into the "good student" mold when he was younger. He really got his act together in high school, and did awesome in college. I used to hate the elementary school awards days when son was younger, and was glad when he did better later in school. He went to a small school where everyone knew everyone else, when he was awarded STAR student in his class (highest SAT and GPA) it was a shock to many.

Thank you, everyone, for the kind words and acknowledgements. This kid WORKED his butt off. Nothing comes easy to him, but he doesn't let challenges get in his way. He is not even a natural athlete -- he had to train the muscle memory into his body until it was permanently engraved. I am proud of all he has accomplished, but even more proud of his kind spirit and dogged work ethic. The world is his oyster.

Congratulations!!! As the mom of a preemie who just turned 3 on January 1 this made me tear up. I am sure you are more proud (prouder?) than words can express.

I so so so so so hope to be able to post the same thing about my aspie/ADHD son in eight years! Currently it feels like a 50/50 chance of either PhD in astrophysics/engineering or living with parents forever because he can't manage basic life skills. GREAT JOB MOM!!!
