I usually don't go to the movie theatre often. However DD and I recently went to go see Big Hero 6 and we loved it so much we saw it again last weekend!!! Then she wanted to see the next installment of the Hunger games series so we saw that the next day. So, I can go a year without going to the movies, then I go three times in two weeks! Anyone else seen any good films lately?

Not recently.
But I saw one of my favories movies last night on TV: The Black Stallion. I don't envy the kid's circumstances in how they came to be together, but his relationship with the horse is most kids' dream.

Nightcrawler was an intense experience. Not sure it is necessary to see it on the big screen but worth the two hope investment of time. The Equalizer was also good. The violence was a little much but in context it made sense.

We saw Interstellar a few weeks ago, I really enjoyed it! We don't see a lot of movies but I really wanted to see that, it didn't disappoint. I won't go see the new Hunger Games because I haven't read the last 2 books yet, and I wanted to see Gone Girl but I'm not finished with the book

No, we don't walk away. But when we're holding on to something precious, we run.

I took the kids and a niece to see Penguins of Madagascar this weekend. It was surprisingly good. Admittedly I didn't have a lot of expectations for it but I laughed several times and the plot was on revenge and needing to be recognized by your family as having grown and changed as live moves on.

Does it have the type of visuals like Gravity that would lose something on a smaller screen?

There was an awesome part with the rotating docking like in 2001 and other scenes with the ships and planets and stuff... I wouldn't necessarily have paid for imax, but I'm not a huge fan of imax or 3d anyway, we just saw the flat version.

Yep. I went to see The Good Lie. It was awesome! It's about a group of siblings plucked from a Sudanese refugee camp and taken to start a new life in Kansas.

Loved Interstellar! And Big 6 was good too. But interstellar was really deep thought provoking, and great on the big screen as someone else said. I ordered a book when I got home, science of interstellar... Haven't got it yet.

I haven't watched it. I've been privy to several discussions/articles about it, all of which have been physicists deeply skeptical of Dr. Thorne's theories and the film's more egregious revolts against reality. So long as you understand that nine parts of out of ten of the science are speculation on Dr. Thorne's behalf (or just plain wrong), it might indeed make for an interesting read. As far as a piece of science fiction, I have no problem with it.

Kansas?!? Now, that's just plain cruel!

As far as a piece of science fiction, I have no problem with it. Not quite your original tone... Lol. Most of science, particularly astrophysics of this nature is theoretical. Thorne utilizes real science and mathematics, is a well respected scientist and educator. I've read just as many favorable reviews by scientists as not, and even those who might disagree on some points of theory praise the accuracy of other aspects of the movie in remaining true to the science. So I'm not sure how you are coming up with your 90% speculative number? Personally I'm more likely to give Thorne's numbers weight than yours. Mostly i I think you just talked out of your ass before you knew anything at all about the subject, and then tried to backtrack.

I just saw Hunger Games Mocking Jay Part 1. I enjoyed it and think it is a good series of movies. But I am astounded at how many previews they showed for upcoming attractions that were remakes. I am SICK of remakes. I mean, really how many times can they remake Cinderella, Little Orphan Annie and on and on? Are there no original stories left?
