Hello everyone.
Not looking for sympathy but.............Who ever wants MURPHY can have him. I am so done with him. I am one of many of the fire evacuees in the Northern part of the Cariboo in BC. We were evacuated because the community was down to only 1 exit to leave by . My husband and I and a hyper 10 year old are living in our 18 ft trailer in a nice camp ground. We have been out on evacuation for about 10 days now. The people in our community are great, they are working on the fires and watching our houses, to keep them safe ( one member of the community has already been arrested for theft over $65,000.00, he is a known thief in our community) and to keep them from burning and some of the ladies are going around to feed the animals that were left behind, including ours. So far the house is still there and the fire is about 4 km away. Just been living off of our food budget from the Red Cross and generous donations from the people of Quesnel, BC. I have registered with the Red Cross, so people can find us. Have not touched the credit card, just using hubby's last pay cheque. We have no idea when we will be back home. I am so hoping we can go home in a few more days. So no updates from me for awhile. Hope everyone else is having a record year of pay offs.

Hello All! I haven't done my numbers but remember well the help you were when I last raced. My son is getting married and we are very happy. A shout-out to racers from the beginning of the thread to 2012.

ava - Don't forget to get your medical records from the first doctor/clinic. Not sure if they will charge you a fee or not but get it so your new doctor has all the records for your chronic condition going back to when you started with the old doctor. Just my 2 cents but I have a family practice doctor that is in a clinic kind of like yours but not quite that bad yet.

I missed updating last month, so this is two months worth of payments. Minnesotagirl7 [4]: 7/28/17 $23,580.77 (3/18/15 $121,029.38 C123)
Mortgage posted, so here's the latest update. Still on maternity leave, I have to go back to work in about three weeks. So sad! I may go ahead and take off the additional two weeks. We'll see. Things otherwise are good. Baby is doing well, or what I think is well at 7 weeks old.
I went in to update my spreadsheet, and realized I passed the 80% paid off mark. Woo hoo for milestones! Also, two updates from now I should be over $100k paid off and under $20k to go. Yippee!!

I have a copy of my last lab exam. I'll take that with me to the new doctor. The clinic wasn't that bad in the beginning, but it has been bought and sold a couple of times and it's obvious that the owner sees it as just an investment. It is an investment, but you are dealing with vulnerable patients, lying about billing, etc. Glad I found a new doctor.

ava 7/29/2017 $278.32 (6/30/2017 $355.46)
Pathologist bill- Paid off Doctor's office- $62.47 still remaining Hospital's lab- $215.85 still remaining. Now that I have paid off the pathologist I'm aiming to be done with the doctor's bill by 8/24, when I get my next biweekly paycheck that doesn't get eaten up by the mortgage and the HOA charges. Then I'll start concentrating on the lab's bill. So far, I've been sending $20 a month towards it. I'm still not sure I'm done receiving bills yet. And it's very confusing. When I go to their websites to pay, none of them show a balance so I can't see the amount still outstanding. Then a few days latter I get a new paper bill by regular mail with the outstanding amount. How backwards, time-consuming and expensive is that? And it's very confusing for me. At one point I thought I was getting more bills, but it were the same bills with the new reduced balance. I can't wait to be done with them.

You have to physically go into the doctor's office to a fill out and sign a form for the records to be sent to the new office. A word of caution: Make sure you write down the name of the doctor and correct address if the doctor is part of a practice. When I moved, my records were sent to a new practice that destroyed them because the doctor I had an appointment to see the following month had left the practice. No one notified me that the doctor had left and I had to pay to have the records sent to another doctor at a different practice.

alicesfreedom Hi. Sorry I missed this before. I'm just up the highway in PG. I hope you are among those who have been able to go home or are going home tomorrow. May you be like my co-worker's daughter in Ft Mac and only have a lot of soot to clear off the windows. Take care.

Updating with the transfer from the BECU Visa to the Chase Disney card to stay at 0%, and capturing the balance transfer fee. I will probably start updating 2x per month now, since the payments on the two cards, instead of being due 2 days apart, will now be due 10 days apart.

Yes, we were able to go home on July 29th.....We are in Big Lake, we were evacuated because there was a chance our only road out would be closed and the Barkerville/ Likely Goldrush road is one hell of a drive. My house is soot free, it's just is/was very smokey outside but my car and truck and trailer will remain packed for if and when we are evacuated again. We are on alert. Even my sister's hubby has been evacuated twice in 2 weeks. So I am just super busy catching up on everything that has not been done for weeks. Gardens and weeding, landscaping. Hubby has gone back to work, so hoping it all goes back to normal soon. Only thing left to do is to pray for rain and the safety of the crews that are fighting the fires.

UPDATE Chicg [2] - 8/1/17, $12216 (11/7/14, 44217.34 MPT266) ugh these vet bills. I love my cats and they're worth every penny but we found a lump on one's toe and needed to get it removed and biopsied. While he was under they wanted to clean his teeth, found that one was broken, so they removed it. Total cost over $2K and still waiting on biopsy results. I don't know how I'll handle it financially or emotionally if it's cancer. That said, I was able to cover 6mo exam and checkup for the one cat but the surgery for the other was so unexpected and I had to charge it. I'll be transferring balances this week so my numbers will change, I just had a promo code end and I'll transfer that and the surgery cost to a 0% offer for one of my $0 balance cards. I might raid my savings for a little bit of money just to feel a sense of some progress and momentum. Nidena - my original tagline - chicg, 8/31/07, 34,368, N497 . Almost 10 years here too. Won that race in 4 or 5 years, was doing alright for a few years but accumulated some debt when my dad was dying and then I had to move and I've been struggling to get out from under it ever since. alicesfreedom - glad your family and home are ok right now.

EF = $46.19 Due to me not paying attention, I managed to pay the previous bill's balance on my daily use credit card, thus underpaying. It cost me $77.39 in interest plus whatever the accrued interest was before I realized my mistake, which will show up on my next bill. I paid the card in full, but I have been using CC#3 and another card that is not in my table for my current expenses, thus the balance increase on CC#3. I might be able to get to $50,000 paid off this month, but that might be a little too ambitious. I should definitely be able to get there by October 1. -movinonup

Update:
nooccar (2): 8/3/2017 $36,376.25 (11/4/2010 $73,475.09 WU197)
I didn't teach in summer school like I have before since I had so many projects to get done this summer. I just finished the biggest one of renovating the carport by replacing all the rotten wood. The money I would have earned with the extra teaching would not have covered the expense of hiring a contractor. Instead I got the satisfaction of my neighbor (who has lots of tools and experience) and me doing the work. I have also gotten a lot of painting and extra yard work done. On top of that all the expenses were paid for from the house maintenance fund so I didn't have to charge it.
I appreciate the change that has happened over the years from when I had to charge everything and then stress about how I would pay it. I like that being on here helps to keep me accountable since I don't want to go back to my first race of racing a bunch of debts. Thanks!

Our first "regular" mortgage payment posted - it's a bit upsetting to see how much interest is taken out of every payment. Since joining the WIRR, I've become very aware of interest and fees and other miscellaneous charges that amp up our bills.
We are headed up to our final family reunion this weekend. Makes me mad and sad at the same time. Mad because people don't care enough to keep it going and sad to see it come to an end after 70 continuous years. At least for us it will be the last, I've heard that some cousins may try to keep it going a while longer - good luck to 'em.
I have to call the foundation contractor to come back to our house and fix the pavers that make up our front "deck". The soil underneath has settled so badly that the pavers are all cattywampus and I'm afraid someone is going to trip and fall.
Looking forward to our next trip in September. DH's knees are giving him fits, so we will definitely be going at a much slower pace, but still, it's a chance to get away and see some sights and we are both needing a break right about now.
Have a great weekend, Racers, and keep fighting the good fight against your debt!

Hello paynointerest I know you have decided not to prepay your mortgage anymore ... but I just wanted to show you how far you have come in the past 3 years. Post by paynointerest on Jul 15, 2014 Update! $90,000
Post by paynointerest on Jul 20, 2015 Update! $73,000.00
Post by paynointerest on Jul 20, 2016 Update! $55,650.00
Post by paynointerest on Jul 8, 2017 Update! $35,900.00
So 17,000 paid off 3 years ago, 17,350 paid off 2 years ago, 19,750K paid off in the past year, for a grand total of 54.1K paid off in the past 3 years. I know you have seen a financial advisor and I'm sure s/he advised you well. But even without making the mortgage your priority, it seems a shame to go back to paying just 6K/year when it has been such a priority to you for so many years. But of course I'm not a financial advisor, and I don't even play one on TV lol. On the other hand, if you use that money to improve your lifestyle and enjoy your time off, that's a good choice too. Best of luck to you, as always.
