So, I've been working insane hours for over 6 weeks now and left work "early" today (only worked 9 hours) because I'm getting sick and HAVE to take care of myself. Texted DH to tell him I will actually be home for dinner tonight (first weeknight in close to a month). He says "Great! - so within reason - what do you want for dinner?" Ideas? Besides that is?

I'd have to make it easy if he's cooking. He's got less than an hour. I'm thinking takeout. Or maybe we go to the dive bar by the train line that makes awesome burgers!

Depends if your DH is cooking or treating you to take-out/delivery.
A quick and easy dinner idea is a loaded omelet - or grilled cheese & tomato soup, or BLT.
ETA: But I like your idea of going to the dive bar for a burger better.

Mmm. The burgers sound good to me! Good eats, and nobody has to cook OR clean up! That's a win all the way around!

I don't like crunchy baked ones. definitely doable within an hour for me but the dive bar is absolutely a great option too.

I made a pot of chili last night. Good stuff.
Hamburgers sound wonderful but something at home would be an omelet.

Just texted him and gave him a choice between bacon mac and cheese and dive bar. Hey - I gotta let the guy have some freedoms, right?

I've got the ingredients to make BLT's, but since you're talking takeout, I think Asian food sounds REALLY good.

I'd ask DH for Steak, Baked potato and salad. And a good red wine. Pretty simple actually.

I think I would ask for chicken cordon bleu, mashed potatoes and peas. The mashed potatoes from the fridge section of the store, the rest from our freezer.

I would have asked for crab legs! Get them at the grocery store and they steam them there.
