The 23-year-old man arrested Thursday morning after allegedly stripping naked at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has been released from the Atlanta Pretrial Detention Center.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said police were called to Gate A21 around 6:30 a.m. after a ticketed passenger “suddenly appeared nude…and began yelling and acting erratically.”

Officers from the airport’s police precinct arrived “and attempted to speak with him and calm him down,” Jones said.

She said that when the man, identified as Derrick Weems, continued to act erratically, “officers used a Taser to control the situation without a struggle, and for the safety of other passengers.”

Jones said Weems was charged with disorderly conduct and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

Weems was later booked into the city jail, and has been released, a jail spokeswoman said Friday.

I'm surprised anyone had time to notice him. Everytime I go thru Atlanta I am on fly getting from one place to the other (gate)

Well, it was a guy - so that takes me off the list of possibilities.

Maybe he was trying to save time in case of a strip-search.

after I posted, there was coverage on the evening news. apparently the guy was dancing around at the gate for a good 20 minutes or so before security arrived. yeesh.

That's one way to pick up women, show them what you've got right from the start.

Told ya    Everybody on the run!!! And then again maybe the gawkers were to busy gawking to call security. But I wonder how many folks got pictures with cell phones and he will be the next internet celebrity. Appearances on GMA, Today Show and who knows where this may take him. Hopefully to the psych ward to get some help.

Atlanta's a little over an hour south of the border w/Tennessee.....it's definitely toward the northern part of that pretty large state.
