Now I'm hearing that tomatoes are getting so expensive that now places are asking if you'd like tomato on your burger or sandwich, and some places are charging extra for each condiment.
Oy vey, what next?

My son's tomatoes are setting blooms as are pepper plants. Of course, we set them out couple weeks ago. Hope he has a bumper crop That should help me!! Blueberry bushes are loaded, trick is to beat the birds to them. ETA: Just got a call "we have asparagus coming up" LOL Second year in the ground so son is happy. Didn't even know if they would produce this year or next!! I may be eating healthy this year thanks to his hard work..

What is your trick?? I planted 2 blueberry bushes last year and there were a dozen or so blueberries, but the birds got them (I wasn't expecting a bunch, but I would have eaten the dozen).
I'm thinking about chicken coop fence around them & on top. Going to be a pain to mow around, but I want my blueberries!! Also, the fence can come down after they are done producing.

Like patstab said: there was a freeze. However, it appears prices are coming down. Two of my independent fruit/veg markets have plum or reg tomatoes on special this week at $0.49-0.69/lb.

Patstab and Noname, I envy you! The ground's still frozen and snow-covered here. I will be planting things ASAP, though.

I got burgers the other day through fast food, they charged $.50 a burger to add cheese!
But our tomato plants that we've gotten started inside are doing GREAT! Hopefully they'll transplant and produce...
