The topic has been brought up from time to time and I'm curious as to a few things:
1. How are campaigns financed in other countries (posters from Canada, England, France, German please feel free to chime in)
2. How would you reform US campaign finances?
Finally - Citizens United - good or bad call and why?
Go!

When elected officials in govt start talking about campaign finance reform, what they really are talking about is making it much more difficult, if not completely impossible for challengers to be able to run a campaign to unseat an incumbent.

Nothing more than incumbents rigging the game- and using tax dollars to do it.

This might be the worst idea in the history of our republic. And not very libertarian- again, you're running afoul of libertarianism's founding principle which is non-aggression. What if I do not wish to have my tax dollars used for anything but the Article I, Section 8 powers granted the federal government under the Constitution? You must realize that we are at the end of the progressive century, not at the beginning of a bold new beginning for statism? That libertarian streak you claim to have-- better get intimately familiar with it. Progressivism / Statism is dead. The new political battle is between conservatism and libertarianism.

Why do libertarians always feel so much larger than they really are? They garnered less than 1% of the total vote for POTUS in 2012. Hardly indicative that they are involved in any battle other than to find any relevance at all...like maybe 2% of the vote! They will continue to be irrelevant but noisy.
