Wondering what the folks on EE think about this article and the shoes. I thought the Bindi flat looked interesting although I wish it was cheaper.

Is there such a thing as a cute, comfortable shoe?
We've got the good news: Yes! There are sandals, flats, and pumps that won’t kill your feet, says Kirsten Borrink, who has reviewed more than 1,000 comfortable shoes since 2007 on her blog, barkingdogshoes.com.
"When I was first diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in the 1990s and needed to find a comfortable, supportive shoe that didn’t look like my grandmother’s orthopedic sandal, I had a very hard time!" Borrink told TODAY.com. "My choices were clunky tennis shoes or clogs. But now certain shoe companies realize women aren’t willing to sacrifice comfort for style! By utilizing comfort technologies such as raised arch support, memory foam cushioning, roomier toe boxes and anatomical lasts, it’s much easier to find a pretty shoe that won’t leave your dogs barking at the end of the day."

They look nice but like you said, a bit pricey. Maybe with time the cost will come down.
Unfortunately I don't think I can wear any of them. The bone structure in my feet are screwy and I don't have any arches. Finding comfortable shoes is a real chore for me.

Some of them are o.k. But, I've never been a clog wearer. And, like sesfw, my feet are pretty flat, so my feet would hurt wearing flats, without some arch support.

I've never really worn flats which is why I was interested in the black leather cutout ones mentioned as apparently they actually have arch support unlike most flats.
I'm working on finding things I can live with. I've become a fan of www.6pm.com but you usually need to move quickly. I waited to long to try a pair of Aravon Farrens and they disappeared from the web-site the day I was thinking of buying them. I think 6pm was chosen for when they tend to pull shoes from the website as they were there when I left for work...

These aren't gorgeous, but a good example of deals you can get. This is also a great example as most of the really good deals it helps to be a small or fairly large size.

I missed getting a pair of Aravon Farrens in a secondary color for $83 or less. Turns out they are rarely discounted anywhere and I'm waiting for a pair in black right now. Still in search of a replacement workhorse shoe that replaces my Orthofeet 715s.
I'd love to try these, but on significant sale.

A couple of the flats looked nice ( especially the black "Bindi") - the rest (at least most of them) looked too "chunky" or "clunky" except for the - "Naturalizer" and "Easy Spirit" pumps - those were nice.
Those gladiator type sandals ("Gentle Souls") went out of style decades ago - and they're too flat - no arch support at all..
Don't get me started on how I feel about clogs - they're heavy, and a sprained ankle waiting to happen. Not to mention just plain ugly.

I just bought these casual-wear canvas deck shoes (navy-blue w/white anchors) this afternoon - cost me $12.
(The flash on my crappy cheap camera washed-out the color - they're more the shade of the navy color swatch beside the shoe pics: )

I think shoe cuteness is in the eye of the beholder and often is somewhat based on your own personal foot anatomy and whether you think shoes can be cute if they hurt your feet.
Most of the shoes people in EE think are cute are ugly to me, as they scream foot pain or bad fit. Style and beauty are an individual thing even if culturally it might point one way or the other.
I view really pointy toed shoes the way MM looks at Crocs. (I'm not a fan of C

They look "practical," but not cute.

The images in the thread BTW, are not the shoes in the article. Only the black pair is something I'm considering, as the types of shoes that really fit custom orthotics is pretty limited. (Though I'm looking at the black leather not the nubuck image that was willing to post.)
Allegria was mentioned in the blog posts of the article writer, and I was able to get that image to post instead of the Bindi flat. I've never worn that brand as they look heavy and not comfy to me but I know they have their adherents with nurses and CNAs.

I looked at the shoes in the article and think they miss-titled it. Most of them look like geriatric shoes. It's okay to wear practical shoes. I'm wearing shorts with elastic, mom shorts if you will. I know there are cuter outfits, but I'm going for practical and comfortable whilst on maternity leave and up a few pounds. I'm owning it.

If you shop shoes that fit orthotics or can be worn by people with serious foot issues, some of those do pass for cute. Not mainstream I'm young with good feet cute, but I've got high arches, heel pain and Morton's toe kind of cute shoes.
There are still quite a few shoes out there that look like your Grandma with foot problems kind of shoes. I've seen way too many of them recently looking at all sorts of different brands I've never checked out before. What I've viewed in the last month would probably curl MM's and Kittensaver's hair.
