I am invited to a wedding in a few weeks that will be held at the groom's parents' home. The home is a waterfront property, but the wedding reception will be on the lawn, not on the shore. It is not a formal wedding (groom and his attendants are wearing navy blazers and khaki pants). I am wearing a royal blue or navy dress (ordered online, arriving this week, one is good for hot weather, the other cooler weather).
Do you think a nice pair of wedge espadrilles or platform sandals would be okay to wear to a wedding like this? Since the reception is on the lawn, I can't really wear spike heels or even kitten heels. I need some height because I am the runt of the litter, so flats are out. I'm leaning toward the platform sandals because I LOVE wearing clogs and platform sandals feel most like clogs to me. There will be lots of mingling and lots of dancing, so my feet MUST be comfortable.
What say you EE Fashion Goddesses?

Platform sandals would work - and would also give you some support on the lawn. Heels would 'dig' into the ground and make walking/dancing uncomfortable.
I think your choice of shoes is perfect for the venue. (I hope you have some cute ones to go with your outfit).
I'd also make sure it's a shoe that won't slip off your foot (some support around the ankle area of your foot, like an ankle strap) for when you're dancing or walking on the grass so you don't break your neck.

Not formal. On the lawn. Platform sandals should be just fine. Get something comfortable and enjoy yourself.

Are you going to take them off if you dance?
I would not try dancing in platform shoes.

I don't know what platform sandals are... Sandals with a wedge heel would be a great option.

I think the wedge heel would be more comfortable and offer more stability on a lawn. When I think of a platform I think twisted ankle. I say this from experiance, lol!

WOW! Some of these are really, really high! Do you have a preference on height?

I thought wedges were in the criteria: So they're not espadrilles, but I think they'd still work.

Whoops! Got lost in translation. Thought you were thinking those were platform sandals instead of what I posted. Just ignore me and carry on.

I think wedge heel is what GRG meant to say - that's what I envisioned last night.
She also said they are clogs (wooden shoe) - maybe something like this - which also has a bit of a platform:

I think that heel might sink into the grass. I have an outdoor reception at the end of June and I was also thinking about wearing wedges because of the grass. In fact, the ones I posted are in my cart right now!

I meant like that but with a wedge platform instead of a heel.

I think I found my winner! These are much cheaper than the TOMS and classic enough to wear forever:

I like those! Is that a cork heel ?
Edit: Nevermind - I found them on Amazon - they also come in nice summery pastel shades (Pink, light blue, aqua, etc).
That style is both casual and dressy, depending what you wear them with.

They also have that same shoe/style, but with a narrower criss-cross strap across the top of the foot. A bit more dressy-looking for something like a wedding (IMO)

I like the first pair that Miss Margarita posted. The rest are okay, but look to clunky.

I like the first pair that Miss Margarita posted. The rest are okay, but look to clunky. I really liked those ones too - unfortunately, they only come in that black/white patterned print - but I love the sling-back heel strap and design of that shoe overall - very feminine.
Too bad it doesn't come in solid colors.
