...in Scrabble. PANTOFLE is not a word. She even went so far as to hack into the online dictionary to add her fake word, which explains why it showed up there when we checked. Now she's laughing at me. PANTOFLE. Bah. At least I lost with dignity.

LOL! Pantofle is most definitely a word! You're just ticked because she knew it and you didn't!

It's a pantawful word is what it is.
But... Mrs. Virgil is giving me a back rub now, so I'm no longer quite as mad.

At least you're getting a back-rub out of it - so it's not all bad. Your consolation prize is better than her victory.

At least she's a match for you. Apparently she hacked numerous sites on the world wide interwebz to pull this prank. Probably had to do a little bit of time travelling too, just to give it that extra touch of authenticity. Wait, could it be? The last time "The Woman" played a trick on you it involved characters of the feline persuasion? Next it will be delusions of Snow Leopards slapping people with slippers in a really mean and aggressive way

virgil
remember the golden rule
even if you win, you lose
playing a game with your wife is like arguing....you cant win
so letting her win boosts her ego, and gets you a back rub
win/win

I saw her eating lunch with Scrabble last week. I knew something was up when some Scrabble tiles fell out of her pocket last week. When I confronted her, she said they were just breath mints with letters on them. And like a fool I believed her.

Aw, she ruffled your feathers, did she? Silly man. You cannot win against superior feminine intellect. So there.

Virgil your Scrabble game caused Proboards to have a ouch last night. SL said good night to me some 200 times. I reread the same posts from threads about 100 times. Oh it was a fun night, thanks.

Well, that explains why I had 10 messages from nobody in my inbox.

My profile popup says that -1 notifications are pending. The Proboards server seems to be having more than just a few issues.

No, the server erroneously counted one of your 'likes' twice. When Proboards re-indexed the forum (repaired the database), the database revoked one of them. Since this kind of error correction isn't expected, the notification system choked on it.

Isn't pantofle found on some ancient Nordic runes? I heard somewhere that one needs to be careful rejecting these as it may bring the wrath of the Valkuries down on your head....

It's apparently an archaic kind of slipper. I like @lillylake's suggestion of using them to beat snow leopards. If that was indeed their primary use, I can forgive their underhanded use in a Scrabble game.
