but it's not. I just finished getting my NEXUS card renewed. It's part of the Global Entry, which helps me get through customs and secure areas (and over the border into BC) much faster than just with my passport. Anyway, the cards only have 5 years on them and when I went to renew mine, I had a lot of changes to make. Address, profession, employer, car registration, etc. It was not straight forward, but finally managed to figure it out. The Feds charged my AmEx $50, so figured I had been approved for another 5 years. I was, I received my new card this weekend with instructions that I needed to activate it. Where? I signed into my account and spent 30 minutes clicking on links trying to find out where to activate the damn thing! Whoda thunk that link to activate my new card was on the screen BEFORE you even sign into your account

I did the same thing! I was going around to find it until I was like ok, let me start again and found it there. Kinda defies logic.
Though, it also defies logic that a lot of other countries are accepting Global Entry to go through their customs quick but Canada will only take the NEXUS card.

Another interesting thing that they did.
Apparently the renewal goes through the border station where you did your original interview. I was living in KY when I got mine and figured I'd just fly up to WA for an interview when I received my letter. But I needed to make an emergency trip to upstate NY and had only just received the letter to schedule my interview, so figured I'd go up to Champlain, NY since it was only 20 miles away from my dad.
I went back to Vancouver airport to get my retinal scan, so figured that they'd reset my 'home' border, but all correspondence is still coming through Champlain.

Ugh. This sounds annoying. Glad you finally figured it out!
