is an attack on black children. news.yahoo.com/chicago-teachers-union-mayor-rahm-improving-failed-schools-161806861.html"The email from the teachers union also suggested that the effort to improve the schools is an effort spearheaded by Chicago Public Schools CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett to damage black children and black families. “This is an attack on Black schools that continues the assault carried out by” Byrd-Bennett “last year, when she closed 50 schools (claiming they were the last closings for at least five years).”"I will not apoligise for saying that any union stupid enough to elect this woman as their mouthpiece over and over again deserves to be considered with contempt. They are so clearly out for their own interests above those of the children whom they are supposed to serve. “After closing 50 schools, now we find three campuses more on the chopping block while the mayor continues his televised propaganda campaign of promoting these disastrous policies,” Lewis, a Dartmouth graduate, fulminated.Yea, and having schools underperforming for over 10 years is a good thing? If I were a parent whose kid had to go through their whole academic career at one of the schools in question I'd be PISSED at the CTU. I am so glad I have options and really hope things improve for those who don't.

Frankly, until you get to the root of the problem, the "parents," the schools will see no improvement. Tie those welfare checks to attendance, behavior, and improvement in grades and you will see CHANGE.
