OMG some kids are so frickin spoiled! Whether she left, or they kicked her out, they are not obligated to pay anything at this point (except maybe if the college tuition account is under her name).
And who the hell is the idiot helping her with this case? The best friends dad? He's got some serious ball on himself!

Sounds like she needs to give in to her parents until she graduates high school. She can get student loans to attend college and a part time job. I don't blame them for making rules and expecting her to follow them. She isn't the boss...

She forgot to sue for a Coach purse & crab legs. What WAS she thinking?!?
I wouldn't send a kid who broke my rules to college, either...

How can you break a rule of "reconsider your relationship with your boyfriend"? Every time they ask you just say yes you've reconsidered it, again.
Yes, I know that's parent's speak to break up with the guy....but it's also not a way to treat your 18 year old child. If you want her to break up with him to live in your house, just say it. I hated when my parents gave me those types of rules veiled with what they want you to do but with an out, and then they go apeshit when you chose an out.

If they don't realize telling her to break up with the guy is just going to make her cling to him, they still have a lot to learn as parents.

She is still in high school, which may be the only reason she may get this. I can possibly see a judge saying the parents have an obligation to get her through high school even if she turned 18 before graduation.
When I was in high school there was a kid who turned 18 in Feb. He went home from school that day and the locks were changed and his things were all boxed on the porch. He was staying at the homeless shelter and taking the city bus to school each day until one of the teachers found out and let him stay with their family until he graduated. I will never forget that kid. Still can't understand how someone would do that to their own child. I know we have no idea what the home life was like, but he was such a nice, responsible person. Never had issues with him at school.

In the article the parents also mentioned her having to abide by her curfew. Agree with their stance or not she may be their 18 year old child but at 18 she's legal for her own actions and generally if a parent wants to cut off support they can. Hopefully the courts settle this quick and the lawyer already talking about 12.5K in legal fees loses out while burning bridges.

This story didn't make me think either "future YMer" or "future welfare queen", but it did make me think "future trophy wife". :-)

The thing is if her parents were divorced in most states she would actually have a legitimate legal argument. She is trying to get the same consideration though it would have been cheaper i think to bank roll her needs than the lawyer!
