The Amtrak line from Boston to New York crosses through some of the most beautiful coast line on the entire planet.
I am just stunned at the location of some of the track line. Talk about absolutely freakingly scenic.
It almost seems criminal to have a train track in some places along the route.

I have never taken a train! Good to know I'll have something good to look at if I ever do.

I've done the train from Syracuse to NYC. Syracuse to Albany sucks. Albany to NY is beautiful.

When I was 13 my family took Amtrak across the country to visit family. AMAZING. I'd recommend it to anyone, I love long train rides!! We went Boston-Chicago, Chicago-Portland, then on the way back LA-STL, STL-Boston. Completely excellent way to see the whole country. One of my favorite memories is my mom shaking me awake overnight once when we were out west so I could see all the stars visible in such a dark place. Amazing. GRG, I've done DC-Boston before, love it!
I'm doing a day trip to NYC next Saturday so we'll be on a train, but only Greenwich-NYC probably, not from Boston. Wish we could afford Amtrak just because it'd be easier and more pleasant than driving 3 hours then taking a train in. Maybe next time!

On occassion during summer months, you can see osprey nests atop telephone polls as the train hugs Connecticut's shore inlets.

Cael, i'dmlive to do the cross--country train someday -- especially through the Rockies!
Tenn, I didn't see any nests this time--no doubt the osprey left long ago for warmer climes.
