Sheila, you and I must be twins separated at birth. I didn't tell my mother anything. And if she found out something that happened to me, it was always my fault. If somebody grabbed my book and ran down the hall at school, it was my fault for being late for class. I should have held onto the book. She wasn't a mean person, she just had her own way of thinking. I grew up in a small town where 80% of the people worked in the factory. My parents included. So if one of the other 20% (who were the bankers, teachers, business owners) said or did something, they were NEVER wrong.

I remember that my mom called me when the girl who used to bully me died. She said "hey, so and so died in a drunk driving accident, doesn't that make you happy?" Ummm....no, it didn't make me happy, but I didn't lose too much sleep over it either. Sometimes karma is a bitch. Because being killed by a drunk driver is like being bullied? Well, a) she was the drunk driver and b) no, I certainly wasn't saying that. But I'm also not going to be upset that someone that was awful to me died. And yeah, if you're not a nice person and then later on something bad happens to you, I'm going to attribute it to karma.

Happyscooter- long time no see twin Yes anything that has ever happened to me has either been my fault or something that I deserved. She will believe anyone over me every time and her go to is to assume that I am lying. At 38 I still don't talk to her about my life.

I wish there were such things as 'karma'. Then child molesters and rapists would die a slow death. Instead of sitting in prison with 3 meals a day, watching cable TV, working out at the gym, not fighting in a war, good medical care, etc...
And don't tell me that being in prison isn't all that We had a guy write a letter to the local newspaper telling what his life was like. In for murder and he quoted just what I did.

Have you ever been to a prison? Or actually spoken to - not read a letter from - someone who has been locked up for an extended period of time?
It ISN'T all that.

I've visited clients in prison, and prosecuted prison assaults. Its not pretty. Child molesters often get slashed in the face to "mark" them. Then they get sexually assaulted.

Funny, I would have said being in prison was pretty equivalent to dying a slow death. And you also left out the daily rapings.

Getting raped daily would make one immune to the physical pain and humiliation, wouldn't it? At some point it just becomes part of your "to do" list, KWIM?

Bullying is fun. Some here may remember my story about griefing teenagers in a chat room when I was 13. I only did it once. I'm certainly not proud of it. But I was cruel, I was extremely good at it, and it. was. fun. A very primal kind of evil. A friend was with me. It was a riot to watch him do it too. To me your question is like asking "Why do kids sleep around when they know they shouldn't?" The answer is obvious. You state that bullying is fun? Interesting. I'd never thought of it as being fun, but I guess you're right. What I now don't understand is how or why is it that anyone, kids or adults, can take pleasure in causing misery to others? I don't get it. Asked... CC: Sum Dum Gai

Why did you tag me on this? Just because I take perverse delight in making little kids cry on Halloween? Or because I was a bully as a kid?

Well, you have to admit, it is pretty fun. To a juvenile with a shitty home life making somebody else feel like crap can seem like the only time they ever have any power or control over a situation.

Exactly! To have POWER over someone is a wonderful thing, especially when you have no power at home. You can only have power over someone if they let you though. So successful bullying requires team work...irony?

Oh boy is this going to be fun to catch up on...
...:::"Why else would bullies bully? If it isn't fun then whats the point":::...
I think some bully in order to "hide in plain sight" -- ie, if the "leader" is bullying a target, then others may join in purely to avoid becoming the next target.
I was bullied a lot as a child, and it certainly affected how I think.

I don't get that though. My life really turned into shit the worst when I was about 12/13. I wanted to be with my friends and have fun and escape hate and discontent and violence. Why in the world would I want to infringe it onto others what I myself despised?
