Oh for pete's sake! Last year was tailored earth tones so this year has to be flourescent flowy, the exact opposite. Get over it, I am not redoing my whole wardrobe!

I saw one black shift and one black skirt I would wear. I can't say I'm sorry that I'm not shopping this spring.

i used to pick up a copy of Moda (pictures from various fashion shows) every so often for a good long laugh. i wouldn't wear some of the outfits even if someone was willing to pay me. i must be really unfashionable.

I love to wear bright colors so it's good to know I'll be stylin' this spring. Actually, I don't pay too much attention to trends. I'll allow myself to buy something trendy to add to my classic pieces as long as it is not expensive. That way when it goes out of style it is easier to put in the "donate" box. I think it's important to develop your own sense of style, what looks good on your body type. There are certain styles no matter how trendy, would look terrible on me. I think knowing your style can save you money in the long run.

Clinton made a good point on WNTW that the clothes you see on the runway are designed for just that, the runway. They aren't meant for the person on the street to literally wear out and about. The idea is to take parts of the current fashion and make them your own.
You dont need to wear a full leopard print bodysuit. You could just buy a leopard print handbag to go with the current trend.
You don't need to wear fuschia pants and an orange top together, you can wear a piece of fushia jewerly with an item you already own.
Too many people get bogged down on what they see on the runway and the fact of the matter is no one is going to look good in that stuff cause it isn't designed for every day wear.

You are supposed to take inspiration from the runway, not literally wear it.
For instance, you would be right on trend in a floral pencil skirt, a coral cardigan, and a simple top.
Or a pair of flared jeans and a bright top.
Always balance form fitting and loose- form fitting bottom, looser top. Form fitting top, looser bottom.
get my drift?

Mom would say if you keep your clothes long enough, they will be back in style. The baggy tops remind me of fashions from the 70s. I dislike the yellowish green and pumpkin colored clothing that I saw in the stores last week. You're spot on chef241! The incoming trend IS 70's fashion. Me personally, I'll miss the brief 50's come back. My body does well with more structured dresses; I can't pull off long and flowy.

More of the same; many skirts are still way too short. Oh well, I can spend my money on vacations instead.

I have a bad jones for a polka dot trench coat, but I haven't even seen anything similar to what I want (which is probably a good thing), but I'll have to wait until the new stuff goes on clearance (or as one poster put it, 'Shop with designer Clarence' LOL). Mostly I'm just trying to replace worn basics and get just a few new accent pieces. And since I was in high school during the 70's I am having some serious cloting deja vu.

Thanks for the link posting. I don't think the clothes are attractive. I didn't seen anything there that I could rework my current wardrobe into. Understand, I am fashion and color challenged.
I have been watching the color trends on the anchor desk news reporters. Lots of lavender to purples., I continue to like the brown and turqoise combo that can be used so many ways. The white vest added to anything is cute and updates the old stuff. I also like the long scarves. Compliment any outfit with one for another update. Add a nice broach to draw the eye.
I started making color dangles to put on a chocker with matching earrings to tie an outfit together. A very inexpensive update.
I scored a couple of denim outfits at the 2nd hand store last year. One is white, the other light blue. Both with jackets. They will go forever. My long time standby is denim jeans and jacket with a white shirt.
I have to remind myself not to over buy. Repairing what I have is better.

I have a very public position here in our city and it involves attending a lot of public meetings, some of which are broadcast on TV. I dress very conservatively but attempt to be stylish and well groomed at all times, as I never know when someone will recognize me.....I don't want to look silly or dumpy.
All that said, the stuff I see in Dillards, Macys, Belk etc. right now is purely junk!!!! I've been shopping to upgrade my spring & summer wardrobe and not having much luck. I refuse to dress like my 12 y/o granddaughter, so, I'll just keep looking, shopping sales @ Coldwater Creek and see what pieces I can put together that are not only conservative & good looking, but appropriate for a 66 year old lady.

Dillards seems to have decided to cater to the 18-35 y/o group. I used to love their private line of Bechamel and Westbound, but little can be found now. Liz Clairborne was always a favorite, but what they have now @ Pennys again looks like something that a size 4 & 6' tall younger woman would wear. In fact. Liz lost their focus when they decided that creating well made clothes suitable for adult ladies was not longer what they wanted to sell.....and we can see, when you forget who brought you to the dance, your sales plummet and your line ends up @ Pennys and QVC.
I like CW Creek, but paying $80 for a blouse isn't going to happen. I get their catalog, find combos I like then try to copy the look at Belk. Kohls, Ross, TJ etc. just doesn't do it for me. I'm not spending hours looking for a pink blouse to match up with a pink "anything".
