Sliders are thieves that target women's purses while they are pumping gas at stations. They drive up, slide out their door, open the targets door or reach through the window and snatch the purse. It is caught on video cameras but few are caught.
I tried to post the link from ABC news but my computer is running backward today.
My car locks all doors at 10 mph and only unlocks the driver door. It can be programmed to open all doors on stopping. I told my DH to leave it the way it was.

My car unlocks all doors when I stop. I think maybe I can program it to just open the drivers door I will have to look. It was different when I bought it and I programmed it this way b/c it was driving me nuts the other way.
I caught show that last night. Pretty unusual b/c I virtually never watch TV. And Yes, I always leave my purse on the console between the seats.
The recommended you take your purse with you to pump the gas rather than leaving it in the car.

I lock my car when I go in to pay. Many y/a now, kids were targeting cars that were left with keys in or idling in cold weather at the gas pumps and stealing them as a prank.
Nothing is safe, I tell ya'.

It's a crapshoot if my passenger side door is unlocked while I'm pumping gas. But I do move my purse to the drivers side seat while I'm pumping gas. Sroo if the crooks want your purse, do you really want it closer to you? That way they have to be close to you to get it. Just saying....

My car also locks all doors at 10 MPH and only unlocks the driver's side when I get out.
However, since when is a locked door sufficient to stop a thief, IF the purse is still visible? You have no idea how many thefts we get in this area of purses, wallets, sunglasses, computers, cell phones, change, etc, that are in FULL FREAKING VIEW of a thief. People leave stuff on the car floor, front or rear seat, center console, dashboard, yet they lock the damned doors. Oh. duh. Takes less than five seconds to smash a window, grab and go. Forget the safety glass or window tinting you have. Won't stop a thief with the right glass tool.
Ladies: put your purse in your trunk when you are out of sight of it, or when you are doing something that distracts you. That includes pumping gas at a gas station, loading groceries in your car or putting your baby in a car seat. And ditch those heavy, dangling handbags. I don't care how fashionable they are. They scream "I am a target!" A thief can yank that off your arm or shoulder and knock you right off balance from the weight of it. Get something smaller that can be worn close to the body and closes completely with a good zipper, not a flimsy latch.
And to everyone: it may be more convenient to leave your valuables in the car, especially if you are just dashing in and out of a store "just for a minute." Trust me - you are being watched.

I was watching this last night on the news as I normally leave my purse on the passenger seat when I get gas. But my gas tank is on the passenger side, so someone would have to crawl through the driver's seat to retrieve it.
Still not impossible to get it though.

Mmm... sliders... oh wait.. you weren't talking about the tiny burgers... No, but we are having those for dinner tonight, now that you mention them.

When I first read the thread title earlier this morning, I was thinking - "Who'd want to steal crappy gas station sliders?"

Ladies, pulleeese, go eat a snack. I suggest you skip those measley sliders and go for the whopper.
OT - SL - what line did you use and how did you get those little emoticons?
