To pull up outside and put on your four ways/ emergency lights?
Dropping my great grandmother off after a concert knight, after 10, I pulled up to her side, opposite traffic, not parked. I put on 4-ways, turned on inside light so she could find her keys and some guy tried to get in the back set of my car. I freaked, took off, could hear him bitching...

GG was still in the car. Emergency lights were on, and the interior lights. I called my stepfather who was a state police officer, he talked me through a drive by and then taking her back, she got in her house without incident then. I know that drug dealers and people who do drugs have moved onto her street... Neighborhood going down hill. Small town. It could have been a mistake, maybe he was waiting for someone, but with interior light on, he could see who was inside...  |

Honestly that seems to be a really poor way to signal you are looking for drugs. Let's signal the whole area that we are looking to buy & then turn on the interior lights so we can be seen & identified.
My guess is the guy was confused & not paying attention & you probably surprised him. I got into the wrong car in broad daylight once. It was similar to the car I was waiting on so when it pulled up & stopped I just hopped in. Scared the person that was driving pretty good.
