Weird but harmless confessions

    Okay, we rented the Hobbit movie tonight on our cable television, and I'm sitting in the den writing this instead of watching the Moria part because I hate things that jump out on the screen, such as orcs, wargs, and Gollums.   Yes, I am afraid of CGI-based animated characters in a movie I chose to watch. 

    I also threw a rotten nectarine into a backyard that I shouldn't have because, well, somebody did something to me.   Talk about passive-aggressive.  

    Sigh.

    Okay, what are your recent, or not-so-recent, transgressions and ridiculousnesses.....

I won't look in a mirror in a dark room because I'm still afraid of Bloody Mary.

I have watched so many episodes of the British version of Shameless lately that when someone posted recently about a problem with a bird, I assumed they meant they had a problem with their girlfriend.  Not normally a big TV watcher, but that show has grabbed me for some reason.

In the last few months I have developed a total aversion to eating off colored plates and plates with patterns and designs. It needs to be solid white. I literally want to throw up just thinking about eating off a colored or patterned plate.

My guess is I am getting older and my eyesight is getting worse (I am on cheaters that are 1.75) and I see patterns as random hairs. But the solid colors - blue, green, etc - can't do that either.

Weird but harmless confession?
I like to watch people combing their hair. It sends shivers up my spine. Same with people doing things involving fine motor skills, like painting.
It was always pleasurable to me, even when I was little.

I am a closet sniffer.  When a guy closes the stall in the restroom to do his business I hang around to get a whiff.    

But I keep this on the DL.

I wouldn't sleep in a room with a tv in it for YEARS.  I had a horrible nightmare when I was about 8 about a giant squid thing strangling the newscaster and then reaching out of the tv to get the rest of us.  <Beth shudders at the memory.>  I didn't actually get over this until the kids were born, so it lasted 25 years roughly.

I have to have the closet door shut to sleep at night because I am afraid something is going to come out and get me   I also was afraid of DS when he was a baby at night, I would put him in the cradle next to our bed to sleep and could not sleep with my back to him because I was afraid he would crawl out and attack me   Mind you he was a infant and could hardly roll over  I have since backed of to many scary movies.

When I shut off the light to go to bed I run from the doorway to my side of the bed and get in as fast as possible.  I'm still about 27% convinced that there may or may not be a monster under the bed

I don't eat orange foods because I think orange is an unnatural color for a food to be.

Every night as a family we tuck our dog in to her bed.  DH, DS and I all tuck her in and scratch her head and wish her good-night.  Our dog is 11 years old and we've been doing it pretty much her entire life.  She has an earlier bedtime than we do.

My dogs sleep on the floor.  I say goodnight too though.

Zoe used to sleep on the floor but in her old age she has laid claim to the living room sofa.  We keep a blanket on it to protect it from her dog fur.  We remove said blanket when company comes over.  We will announce 'Ok Zoe, it's bedtime' and she'll run upstairs and wait to go outside one more time, then come in and get her good night cookie, after that she hops up on the sofa and waits for us to tuck her in and wish her a good night. When we had two dogs (our Dalmatian died at age 14 winter before last) it was the same routine but they had matching side by side kennels in their "room" and would go into their respective Rooms after potty, good night cookies and kisses.

We may be weirdos when it comes to our pets but they are the happiest dogs you'll ever meet and live long happy lives. At age 11 Zoe (our Lab) still acts like a puppy most of the time.

My oldest (Dobie) will be 15 in May.  Maybe I should buy him a couch

My dog puts me to bed. Starting about 9 or 9:30 she kind of "hrumphs" a lot on her bed and goes out one last time. Then she comes back in and sits by me and kind of whines. If that does not work she goes back to the bedroom and snoozes on her bedroom bed. If I am still not back there by 10 or 10:30, she will come back out to the living and make a big thing out of checking on me and flopping down on her living room bed in such a way the entire free world knows how rough this is for her to do. Lost of whiney-pants along the way and boy, do I know that I am lucky to have her to take care of me. Funny thing though is when I am sick she knows and checks on me softly and sweetly. And my secret is I love it all. Never knew a dog could be such fun.

Most amazing part is she is a 10 year old, female german shepherd and I adopeted her about 2 1/2 years ago from her favorite person in the world who had her for about 6 years and got her from a resccue organization.

I have watched so many episodes of the British version of Shameless lately that when someone posted recently about a problem with a bird, I assumed they meant they had a problem with their girlfriend.  Not normally a big TV watcher, but that show has grabbed me for some reason. 

I watched all 8 seasons of 24 within about 6 months.  During that time my friend and I were running together and she mentioned she had a hair appointment that weekend.  A few minutes passed when we didn't talk much and then she said she thinks she might "go dark."  I thought she meant she was going off the grid because going dark is the term they used on 24 when they would cut off all communication

ETA:  Sheila - That is adorable!!!  Sophie puts DH to bed every night and that is her "job".  I do my kitties hair every night and/or morning - as they wish.  They all love their hair combed or brushed.

I can't eat Chinese food any more.  I used to love it, but then I heard a rumor that it was so cheap because the chicken is really mouse meat.  I manage to take a few bites when we go, but then I start thinking about it.  I can't eat any more.

I need to start researching the beef dishes or something because, unfortunately, this Chinese restaurant is DH's favorite right now.

Me, I smell my socks before I put them on in the morning to see if I can get two days out of them...in the winter months, of course. lol

I straighten and re-use nails (I know they are cheap, it's just a thing...I don't like to throw things away that I can use again). But that's probably not a transgression, is it?

Hmmm, OK, my mom sent some Easter Eggs up, which I thanked her for dearly, and I donated them to the local food bank (too much chocolate doesn't do anybody any good). I figure, if you are a little down on your luck, you deserve some kind of Easter egg chocolate for Easter.

I'm going to tell her that they were wonderful and enjoyed by all...(which is not really a lie).

There are other things, but, I have my embarrassment factor...so...

I can't stand any closet door or drawers open period.  I am not afraid of anything coming out of them, it just bothers me.

    There were many, big, big, giant orcs.   All leaping out.   At me.   Also, Gollum looks pretty creepy on our large-sized TV screen ( $ 458 - Walmart - Black Friday ).   I'm sitting here laughing at myself about my fears, now.   That the large, big orcs are gone.

I still had my Barbie dolls when I got my learner's permit/started driving. I didn't play with them, but I still had them. Talk about not putting childhood away! I still love dolls. I have a bunch of seasonal/holiday Americana folk art dolls and display them during the appropriate holidays.
