We’re heading to Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta on Thursday for DD’s team to play in the Big South volleyball tournament. I’m looking for some interesting/cheap things to do near there (within walking distance, as our motel is about 4 blocks away). I’ve looked at the aquarium (we get a discount), but I’m not sure how long it will take to go through there since I don’t know how much down time we will have and we leave Sunday. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> I’ve also looked at the Underground Atlanta, but not sure if it would interest a couple of 15 year olds. Any other suggestions? <o:p> </o:p>

The Coke museum is pretty cool. Fernbank Museum of Natural History is pretty good, and the Atlanta Zoo is small but a nicely done zoo, but I don't know if they're within walking distance.

Just totally depends on your interests (and the interests of your 15 year olds - girls?)
The Atlanta aquarium is awesome. We took our 17 yr old a couple years ago and he enjoyed it (best I could tell). A lot of it is geared toward younger kids, but if you skip all the demonstrations (our son liked going through pretty quickly), it was still pretty cool.
Underground Atlanta - I would pass on that. It has gone downhill and kind of shady area.
Coke museum is pretty cool, you can also stop by the Varisty for lunch (world's biggest drive in)
There is plenty to do if you take MARTA (public transportation system)
My kids always enjoyed the tour of Brave's Turner Field. It is open year round, doesn't have to be baseball season. Really cool if you are a baseball fan. Not sure if there is one for Falcon's (but that would be walking distance).
Planty of big city shopping (Lenox Square/Phipps Plaza area for upscale shoppping) are accessible via MARTA

CNN is right there, too. I think they give tours. I've seen where you can actually pretend to give a newscast, and they film it for you.
Olympic Park is there. If it's warm, they'll have the fountain going.
The High Museum of Art is not within walking distance, but it's a short Marta ride.
I'm a native Atlantan. I'd say the top three things to visit since you're right there would be:
1) Ga Aquarium 2) Coke Museum 3) CNN
And, if you're into this kind of thing, you could walk down to see the Martin Luther King memorial. (Long walk, about 3/4 mile.)

We went to Atlanta Several Years ago. We took the in-laws and out two teens. We did the Atlanta Aquarium and World of Coke. Everyone very much enjoyed the Atlanta Aquarium.
World of Coke was interesting my family enjoyed tasting the various Coke Products from around the world. When you leave there they give you a small souvenier bottle of Coke. Just to warn you you can not take that liquid on the plane...so either check a bag or drink your bottle of Coke.
We visited Olympic park...wanted to go to CNN but I recommend you check on times/getting tickets in advance we did not go I don't remember why.

Thank you for your recommendations. It looks like we will have some free time after 2 p.m. Friday if the girls are not too tired. So we will check out either the World of Coke or the Aquarium. Saturday’s free time will be determined how well they do on Friday. Sunday we play at the Cobb Center(?).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
