DH met my roommate and I at a college event. He claims (NOW) that he wanted to ask me out, but got our names mixed up so called and asked my roommate on a date. They dated for a while, then broke up. We started dating a while later. We are still married 30 years later.

I met my ISO at a wine and cheese party for people over 35 held at a home of a women we didn't know. We both belonged to a singles group and the homeowner was a member so we didn't know anyone there.
I spotted his Ford Ranger outside with bumper stickers one said "I would rather be fishing" The other said "don't complain camp in the rain". So I go in and there were about 5 people already there and I asked who's truck it was. So I started talking to him and we talked about 4 hours when I said I had to leave I had work in the morning, he said he did too. So we walked out together and stopped at his truck so I could meet his dog, then he said he forgot his coat and went back in. I waited for him then asked for his phone number. I called him the next day and invited him and his dog to brunch at my house. He liked my house, I had a fenced back yard so then when it was too hot to leave his dog in his truck he would leave her at my house sometimes. He worked swing shift so often I would see him in the day if I was home then he would leave his dog and come back at midnight for her. I didn't own a TV or stereo so he brought his TV to my house since he was never home. We decided he should be my roommate so he gave up his place and moved to my house. That was 1986 and we are still roommates.
I don't have a SO so having a long term ISO is fine, if I meet an SO I would probably need to the ISO.

He was sort of my "boss" at my summer job between my sophomore and junior years of college. I was 19 and he was 26 when we met/started dating (I turned 20 shortly afterward). We were the gossip of the workplace that summer.

Met DW when she came over with a childhood female friend of mine before the first day of classes our freshman year of college. We didn't start dating until two years later. Were married two weeks after college graduation.

Met DW the week after I moved to the US. Was brand new and knew nobody, but went to the bar below my apartment. It was packed, but there was a table of 5 ladies and a spare seat. Offerd to buy a round if they'd tell me more about the area. Turns out the spare seat was for DW but she was at work at the time, but it was easy to break the ice. Still with her and hang out with that group of friends all the time.

DH was the bouncer at a bar my friend dragged me to one night. Ended up talking all night, and I called my friend the next day and said "I think I have a crush on the bouncer..."

He was the room mate of a couple of my friends. I still thank them on occasion.

Hockey. I'd seen him at the rink, and then a teammate invited us both to watch a game of the team we rooted for against one of the local favorites, hoping to make fun of us. Not only did our team win that night, but we wound up watching our team together as they went all the way through the playoffs, then roadtripped back together for the Stanley Cup parade. It was a GREAT roadtrip ;DOur son is due right around the anniversary of when we started dating, way back when.

We met at work on my first day at a new company. We didn't start dating for just over a year after that, though we did become pretty good friends in that time. I really liked DH, but was nervous about dating a coworker and having it not work out. I was adamant about not telling people at work for a while, and still keeping it on the down low once it was public. Once we got engaged, I still had people telling me they didn't know we were dating, LOL.

Online 15 years ago, before it was common. Back then people thought we were weird, but today it is commonplace. We did meet in person the following day and were married 6 months later.

During college I was a high-paid stripper/cage dancer/escort in a nightclub in Vegas. He'd come in and watch me, tipped well and we hooked up. Seriously?!! I would NEVER have guessed this!

I met Goose at Wal-Mart. I was there picking up my cousin who worked there with him. She was talking to him when I walked up. He was staring at my boobs (I had D's and weighed about 100...yes they were real and full of milk). I told him if he didn't stop staring at my boobs I was going to squirt him in the eye with milk because I was lactating. He thought it was hilarious and asked me and my cousin to hang out after work. We started dating about 2 months later, got engage after 3 months of dating, and married after 8 months of dating. We will be celebrating 16 years in August.

I met XH doing volunteer work. I met DH at a spaghetti fundraiser. Only he didn't know there was a fundraiser and he had already eaten spaghetti at home. We left the fundraiser and talked until around midnight. We went out the next night and have been together ever since. Next month we'll be married 13 years.

I met DH in a theology class (Education for Ministry) that's been described as the Readers' Digest Condensed version of seminary. The class met weekly and he was the only guy. He seemed like a nice guy but he was 15 years older, I was disconnecting from a very bad marriage, and he was ending a long-term relationship that had gone stale. A couple of days after the ink was dry on my divorce decree, one year after I'd met DH, my Ex was coming into the house with his mover, to get an estimate of the cost of moving his stuff out. It was the first time he'd been in without a police escort since he'd been removed with a Restraining Order the year before. My lawyer told me to have DS out of the house and find someone else to hold down the fort with me. So I asked DH- he seemed like a good, stable guy. (Isn't that romantic?) My Ex didn't show up (typical) but DH and I had a nice time talking. The next week the Ex did show up and after he left DH and I ended up in bed. The rest is history. We didn't marry till 6 years later but pretty much never dated anyone else after that. Our 10th anniversary is in June.

I went to church for the first time in a LONG time. As I was walking in to sit down, a handsome young guy was walking out. We caught eyes for a second, and I immediately started grilling my brother about who that guy was. He told he it was the older brother of his good friend. Come to find out DH had been asking his brother about me too. So our brothers got together that afternoon to compare notes and decided to help us out There was a talent show at church that night that our little brothers were in. Of course, DH and I both showed up just hoping the other would come as well. I live near church and invited a group of people over to hang out. DH invited himself to come along and ended up staying hours after everyone else left. We had our first date two days later and someone asked us how long we had been married. DH's reply was "not married yet, it's just the first date." On the way home we talked about getting married...and we did 16 months later

Now that I think about it, he was a STALKER!! We were both stationed overseas. He was the executive assistant to the 4 star, and I had to brief that four star weekly. Apparently, he used to watch through the "keyhole" of the General's office. Luckily, I did not know it at the time, I would have been VERY annoyed!! Then, he would just "happen" to be checking his mail at the base post office when I did, and when winter hit, he would offer to give me and my son a ride to our apartment on base. We became good friends. Even though I thought he was very cute, I was not even thinking of romance, as all my focus was on providing a good life for my son, and my success at work played a big roll in providing that life. Then, he called me one night. We talked for 7 hours, about everything. I was completely head over heels from that moment on, not to mention VERY tired at work the next day.

Maybe on to something there. Stubborness maybe, you have a few people telling you it is not going to work .... I believe that when you find the one "it" doesn't care how old you are.

I was dating a guy I had met in a bar while on vacation. We were going out for a year and it was getting pretty serious. One day he was really excited because his best friend was back in town and he couldn't wait for me to meet him. Big mistake.
It got pretty ugly.

Apparently, we were both dating the same girl. Thank goodness I was a naive little lesbian at the time.
We met at a Halloween party at Trammps back in 1991. My girlfriend and I had rented identical tuxes and she was sitting on my lap when he came over. I didn't think much of him but since he had come alone, I sorta sent the deaf guy from my apartment building in pursuit of him.
The next week, I had two guys with the same name both vaguely angry with me but neither was doing a very good job of explaining why.
About three years passed. My girlfriend and I broke up but became good friends after a year. We were living together and she had gone out of town (to get engaged) and had asked my SO to take me out and get me laid.
He did. Despite initially faking a much worse hangover than I actually had, I eventually reconciled to the fact that I was fooling around with a guy and liking it.
I'll be watching SCOTUS with profoundly mixed feelings this week. If the nine find a conscience, I'll be elated, but it will mean that I have to propose to the dude.
