It's a bit lengthy, @steve, but you should be able to do the following with standard software on Win XP and above: - Open the window with the colour you want to sample. Press Alt+PrtScn to take a screenshot.
- Run MS Paint. You can usually find this under 'Accessories' on your programs menu. It's called 'Paint'.
- Paste the screenshot into Paint.
- One of the tools on the toolbar should look like a dropper. It will be called 'Color Picker'. Choose it, and click on the colour you wish to sample. It should show up as Color 1 in the colour palette.
- Click 'Edit colors' in the colour palette. This will open up the colour editor. Your colour should be the one in the sample box, and it will have RGB values listed for it. Write down the RGB values.
- This site provides a conversion from RGB to CMYK. Just type in your values.
