Yes, I want to go, don't talk me out of it. What is there to see and do? April or May.

Which Birmingham? Birmingham, Alabama, Birmingham, Michigan, or even Birmingham, England.

The Vulcan. The civil rights muesum, the park adjacent to it, the old iron foundry, my BFF. I've been there twice, once to visit my BFF and once for her wedding. The weekend I was there just to visit we hit a lot of the "sites". For her wedding, I took DH and DS back to the Vulcan, and we drove around some, but didn't go to many of the tourist things because of wedding stuff. It was still fun.

I was going to say the Vulcan statue-the largest cast iron statue in the world.

The Comedy Club. Shopping at the Summitt. Making jokes about 280.
Maybe it's because I live there, but visiting Vulcan is pretty boring.
There's Tannehill, though, which has Trade Days once a month in spring and summer. It's a state park, and you can hike. There's also Oak Mountain, another state park that is even closer. I think you can fish there.
There are lots of acting groups, a good art museum with a great Wedgwood collection among other stuff, lots of colleges with sports and other entertainment, etc. There are the Robert Trent Jones golf courses if that's your thing. I don't know when the Barons start playing. They are a minor league baseball team.
The Regions Classic, a golf tournament on the Seniors tour, is in May, I think.
But the top three are listed on the first line.

The Birmingham Barons are affiliated with the Chicago White Sox (did I spell that right?) I had to look that up because we just tend to think of them as "ours."
The church is the 16th Street Baptist Church.
One other place worth seeing is the Alabama Theater, also located downtown. It's a grand old-style theater that has been restored. They do film series that are very good.
Having done my best to sell you on the sights to be found in Birmingham, I have to disclose that I haven't been to anything downtown other than the Alabama Theater or maybe the Civic Center (a concert venue) in probably 15-20 years. It's dirty and unsafe.
Be careful if you visit.

If I were in Birmingham, I'd do things that were sterotypically Alabaman (Alabamanian? Alabamese? Alabamite?).

It's Alabamian, Bob. And I don't know anyone in Alabama that actually bowls. Our high school Scholars Bowl team bought bowling shirts if that counts. Now if the video had been about hunting, I'd have to confess how true it is.
