The surgeon seemed concerned but not totally freaked out. Said it was more than likely a combination of the anesthesia drugs still being in my system, the infection, having the wound screwed with, and me overdoing it on Friday night.
Another nurse came to change the dressing today and everything was fine until she started packing the wound. I got super light headed and the room started spinning but I stayed conscious. I was fine a couple minutes later. I seized yesterday while she was packing the wound too. The nurse from today thinks there's a nerve in there that's being pushed on and that's what I'm reacting too.
I follow up with my primary care doc tomorrow about the seizure yesterday.
Nurse says it looks good. Bleeding healthily (not too much, but the wound isn't dry), and no sign of infection.

it is rude to talk about conversations that clearly were meant to be private and that you were not a part of. Would you like to publically talk about the problem you had with my post?

You are right. It was a bit rude. However the conversation had already been brought up... I think an app fix is probably in order to correct the problem, so that mod only posts don't show on the app feed.

Not to worry, oped. This was a glitch, and I think it threw us all for a loop. I know it did me! I've let virgil and moonbeam know we've got a problem with this feature. Hopefully, it can be fixed to work properly.

Wound report sounds good, Dark. Glad you're seeing your primary soon. If it were me, I'd ask for a referral to a neuro feller just to be extra careful. Seizures are nothing to mess around with, so if I have one I want to be sure a neurologist is in on the evaluation.

Steve, that's absolutely ENOUGH. you don't need to deliberately antagonize MMC, and i did read what you said in the MOD ONLY posts. do not continue down this path or you will *not* be welcome here.

When mmc insulted me you tolerated it for maybe 30 minutes before you took down the insult, and that was after you mentioned it to him. Clearly what is and is not tolerated depends on how the moderator feels toward the poster. Now everything is clear. This is you getting back at me for something that happened what, months ago? How petty.

MMC didn't insult you, steve. Now, you can either shut up and fly right, or you can get out. Moonbeam has spoken to you and I have spoken to you. I'm NOT going to do so again. - mmhmm, Administrator

Damnit, and I still missed whatever the conversation was about. That's it, you and you *points at MMC and Steve* go outside and settle this on the lawn. Neither of you are allowed back in until you walk back through the door with your arms around the others shoulder.

I'm sure I'll end up seeing a neuro and a cardio before it's all over. My poor insurance company. This was supposed to be a quick outpatient deal.

Well they did take it outside and headed over to ArchietheDragon's Bar and Saloon where Archie offered them free drinks (that's Archie behind the bar counter) while they discussed their differences. This is what the security cameras captured:

I'm betting the hospital will bill for $30,000. They will probably accept $3000 from your insurance company. I pulled the numbers from a hat, but not the percentage negotiated by the insurance company. They accepted $30,000 for the $300,000 surgery on DH last summer. My primary hips ran about $60K, and insurance paid roughly 2/3 of it, or just over $40K. This past year, with 2 excisions and 2 revisions, the bills ranged from $90ishK to $110K. Again, insurance paid roughly 2/3 the billed cost for all 4 surgeries. However, Medicare does not pay as well as private insurance. From what I can tell from my hip groups, Mediare only pays 30-40% of the billed costs. Also, if there is a situation where the hospital is at fault (most notably, noscomial infections but there is a list of other problems as well), Medicare will not pay for the hospital costs in dealing with the problem.

Who knew there was a downside to not having much back fat. I hope they are able to close the wound soon Dark and you feel better.

$45K Sorry to hear about the seizures. I honestly kind of surprised you aren't being kept in the hospital given the size of the wound, I had pictured it much smaller when you said golf-ball size. I didn't want to scare you before you had your first dressing changed, but I've been through that exact same thing with a large infection in my back with drain tubes and everything & I've been through natural childbirth. Natural childbirth was less painful than getting the dressings changed & I was on morphine when they did mine because I was kept in the hospital the whole time. I was super lucky & got mine changed every 8 hours .

Thanks. It freaked me out a bit, but I feel pretty much fine. I mean, I have a hole in my back and it hurts, but given the circumstances I feel pretty good. The seizure was sooo random.
Loop was supposed to be changing mine 2-3 times a day starting after the nurse came over the day after the surgery and showed her how. Since I'm not reacting to it very well they told her not to touch it without a nurse present.

Yeah, I was hoping Loop would take the hint. Instead she taped some plastic over the bandage, turned on the shower, and threw a towel at my head. At least I don't smell like old sweat and bandaids anymore.
