Too much candy. Too many cookies. So many sweets.
My stomach would like to discuss the possibility of getting back to our normal diet. But I can't resist.

I've decided recently to go on a diet, so no eating for me for a while.

In December??!! Are you high? Should be easy until I go visit my parents next week. I'm not around any sweets or more food than normal until then. I'm too lazy to make them myself and no one at work brings them in. And I don't live with anyone at all. Unless my couch or TV will get up and make snikerdoodles I'll be good

My mother and I ate a butterscotch pie over the weekend. I cut back on a lot of other stuff to leave room for that. Other than that I really haven't been overindulging on the sweets.

Wrongside - I know that exact feeling. For some reason, you just have to eat them. Why is that?
Thanks to you and swamp for making me feel normal. The rest of you with self control, go get a colonoscopy and congratulate yourselves on being so good.

I gained a few pounds, probably during Thanksgiving, the holiday party we had a couple of weeks ago, and being on travel (for work) all last week in San Fransisco and eating out. I was in a bad area of town too so I ate at the same Italian place every night because it was close. All those carbohydrates aren't good for you. Plus they had the "free breakfast" and I don't normally eat breakfast so that's another meal I had to eat "because it was free."
But I'm going to be losing a few pounds this week, probably just so I can gain them back over the holidays next week, then lose them again in January.

I've already had my colonoscopy this year thank you very much. If it makes you feel better, based on other things you've written you have much better self control than I do when it comes to burgers and other fast food.

I've been keeping the sweets and carbs out of the house and exercising every day. I allow for a bit of indulgence when we go to a party. Over the weekend, we did attend an awesome event, with all the food catered. I enjoyed what I had: coconut fried grouper bites, deep fried ravioli - one piece of each. Not a fan of the ravioli, though I wanted to tackle the server and take the entire tray of grouper bites. Buffet tables with a salad bar (a good idea for a meal starter; fill up on it before you go after anything else), steak and shrimp (steak was not bad, but the grilled shrimp was awesome) and unfortunately for me, a made-to-order pasta bar. I wanted to stay by the pasta bar and just eat from the buffet with a fork directly from the steam table.

I haven't overindulged too much yet - mostly because I am the one who bakes all the Christmas goodies and I haven't started yet! Last year, I probably ate 6 dozen cookies all by myself. So in January, I took up running to drop the extra 3 pounds I gained. But then I decided to start marathon training and gained 4 more pounds (mostly muscle). So now I weigh 7 more pounds than last Christmas. And I haven't eaten any cookies! Not cool! Damn exercising!

We made cookies yesterday, but I only made one batch - so maybe 5 dozen of those little butter cookies - you know, the really small ones that don't inspire guilt until you hit the double digits.

My house is loaded with candies and cookies. Thank goodness I don't particularly care for them. I wonder if I can re-gift them?

I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but have been guzzling Bailey's all weekend like it was water. OMG that stuff is so good.

Bailey's is super-sweet - so your sweet tooth just like it liquid, and boozy!

I'm trying to be the strong one in my household, but it's not working too well! We have fancy popcorn one of my aunt's sent us, my DH has a weakness for pumpkin pie and keeps bringing them home. And we are going on vacation at the end of this week and then to see my parents (who believe the only way to show love is to feed you) over New Years. Good thing the treadmill and I have a decent relationship.

No, God has a sick sense of humor and I have Gestational diabetes with this baby due on Dec 31. It is F$%^ing TORTURE. TORTURE I tell you. I've been so so good and yesterday we had cupcakes and punch after church and I completely forgot and had both (I've been very careful not to "drink" any of my carb allowance the last 2 months). Sigh.

I'm not finding it that tough to avoid sugar this year. I've found that since I don't eat very much sugar (not intentionally avoiding, just a by-product of cooking healthier-ish food from scratch), if I eat a cupcake or a decent sized peice of fudge I am WIRED for a couple of hours. Plus, so many sweets this time of year are low quality. My boyfriend never met a cookie he didn't like, and will binge on those terrible ones that come in clamshells from the grocery store. I can totally feel the effects of sugar like it's crack, and I don't like it that much. I'll eat the really good stuff - I made 6 dozen frosted sugar cookies, a 9x13 pan of fudge, and a 9x13 butter cake on Friday. I've probably eaten 2 of the cookies, and 1 or 2 little squares of the other stuff (I cut them into 1x1 inch squares). But most of the stuff floating around my office isn't worth putting in my mouth.
Now, the savory stuff is harder for me. The homemade summer sausages and cheeseballs and ham and creamy dips and Topsy's caramel/cinnamon popcorn. It's really hard to have control around that stuff. It helps me that I'm only 7-8 lbs away from my goal weight, and it's nice to be starting to feel skinny. I have to think, do I want a second portion of summer sausage MORE than I want to be at my freshman in college weight? So I'll eat all that stuff, but portion it out carefully beforehand.

I baked some cookies and froze some for this coming weekend. DH and I ate a few at home and then I brought the rest to work. Damage control.

This past week has been the busiest, as far as holiday events go. Party at work Tues, concert on Wed, party at story hour for the preK bunch on Thurs, DH brought home leftover donuts from school on Fri (or Sat?), 2 parties on Sat , we hosted donut Sunday at church (so brought home the leftovers ) and parties in Rel Ed classes (with treat bags)! Sunday night after bedtime, our 7yo was not feeling too well - even he knew it was from too many sweets over the last few days.

Too much booze. I'm not a sweets person so I don't have an issue there. I'm with dividend. It's the savory stuff that gets me every time.
Looking forward to getting back on the wagon. My goal is to get in shape to ski - just bought a groupon for a ski resort.

Mmmmmm - Baileys. DH came home with the caramel one the other night. I still need to try out the hazelnut.
I am not over-indulging in sweets, but I am eating a lot of junk food. The saltier the better.
