about 46 hours after being admitted, I got sprung from the hospital yesterday. Not moving too badly, but would hate to try moving without narcotics!
So the next few weeks are merely a matter of healing and waiting for bone to knit. We'll have to see how long it takes for cabin fever to kick in. Not used to being kept so restrained and it's necessary right now to keep from moving and doing damage that could undo the surgery.

Rumor has it that when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist and a round thing in your face you get sprung.

Mich, that is great news that you are feeling pretty good and you're able to move around a bit already. May your bones knit beautifully. TD!! Get away from her!! She's not healed yet and the doctor said not to undo all of his hard work. <<shaking finger at TD>>

TD better be spoiling you rotten! The doctor said that she needs to be exercising and rebuilding her muscles so I told her to vacuum while I was at work today. So I come home. No vacuuming, the bed is unmade, no dinner and she's still saying "no freaking way"

Mich - don't trust him when he tells you he needs a rent-a-maid!!!!! Oooo, good idea. PoM, are you busy? Mich can't hobble very quickly so I'm safe there. I just need to stay out of the striking range of her crutches. Think of teasing a rattle snake

I'm quite good at both things. <<POM gets busy in the kitchen and starts singing>> I can bring home the bacon. Fry it up in a pan. And I'll never, never let you forget you're a man. Because I'm a woman... I know, I know. That's one thing I can't do. Sing.

Neither can I. I got a part once in a Christmas English Pantomine. My part had to sing though not much. After I tried to 'sing', they rewrote the part to remove the singing

No need, Pom.....TD does a really good job of cooking and cleaning. In fact, I'm really starting to feel guilty about needing to sit on my ass for so much. However, I do know that if I screw this up, I'll be needing even more help.
I'll keep TD amused......there are still some things that do still work.

Joke time!!!!
A very flat-chested woman finally decided she needed a bra and set out to the mall in search of one in her size. She entered an upscale department store and approached the saleslady in lingerie, “Do you have a size 28AAAA bra?” The clerk haughtily replied in the negative, so she left the store and proceeded to another department store where she is rebuffed in much the same manner. After a third try at another department store in the mall, she had become disgusted. Leaving the mall, she drove to K-Mart. Marching up to the sales clerk, she unbuttoned and threw open her blouse, yelling, “Do you have anything for this?” The lady looked closely at her and replied, “Have you tried Clearasil?”

but would hate to try moving without narcotics!Narcotic's are your friend, be friendly. Not used to being kept so restrained Once you mend maybe you need to get kinkier. So I come home. No vacuuming, the bed is unmade, no dinner and she's still saying "no freaking way"After posting this here where she can read it, If I were you I wouldn't eat anything that I didn't see fixed. Just something to think about (Your honor, I didn't know what I was doing, I was on NARCOTICS & guess I went a little crazy). However, I do know that if I screw this up, I'll be needing even more help. One of the top 5 ways to break an arm is when your in a cast & you "think" you have mastered crutches. Same thing after any operation......I thought that I could get around & then I fell. Take your time & get well. Don't worry about TD2K, when he's not here we can assume that your being waited on. Get better soon.

Mich is a big fan of narcotics. If you don't stay on top of the pain, it's more than willing to remind you. If she moves wrong, she gets a reminder than things are still very, very, very tender.

TD's right, I'm not one to suffer unneedlessly. I do get relief from drugs and an addict breaking into the house today would be getting a Mother Lode of narcotics. However, if they tried to take them away, they'd be wearing my crutch in a very painful place.
At this point, I've figured how how to use them pretty well. My biggest problem is trying to remember to take them on schedule right now. It was easier when the hospital kept the schedule and I just had to push the button on the PCA. A little later, once they healing's a little further along, I'll start using them according to pain levels more than time schedule. In the past, my first cue of starting the is when I start to sleep pass dosages. I doubt that this time is any different.

Gotta hint for you from when Mrs. V had her hip surgery and I was caregiver.
Keep some small Post Its and a pen near your bed. Every time you take a pain pill, write the time down on a Post It and stick it on your nightstand clock. Keep your pain meds near the clock so that you have to look at the clock first.
Mrs. V kept forgetting and asking me, so I came up with that trick. You really can't be expected to remember things like this under heavy meds.
As a double check, ask Himself to count your pills once a day to see what your daily intake was, as there's no reason you should expect to remember it.

LOL at the restraint comment Tex! Speedy recovery Mich. Let your body mend per doctor's orders and TD take care of you guilt-free. I would especially enjoy the thought that he has to take care of the furballs. My cuz's bf was laid up for a bit after leg surgery and she gave him a bell to ring in case he needed her (multi-level house) .... he never once rang it, said he was too scared what would happen if he did!

After having a couple major surgeries myself, I'll say that it's a lot easier to keep the pain managed than to let it get out of hand and try to catch up with it! That sucks. I would also write down when I took what on a little notebook beside where I kept my pills.

Unfortunately, TD has been spared looking after my brats. I did consider flying them out here too, but one of them really does not handle change well. Seemed smarter to keep them in their own surroundings.
I do miss my fuzzbutts though......

Oooooooo shiny I'm wondering if mich should also be keeping track of how many pills she has. Sounds like TD may be doing a taste test. Mich, can you set your alarm clock to go off every few hours when your meds are due?

Oh, I thought you were at home and TD was there. I call mine my little nurses. They all surround me in the bed when I'm sick or have surgery and my favorite baby only leaves my side to eat and take care of business. But I wouldn't take them from their environment either and I would never fly them. I wouldn't trust the airlines. Hell, we don't even fly any more. I hope you are able to have a relaxing weekend and I'm sure you are in great hands! Or would that be TD in great hands?
