Took dad for his groceries yesterday. I already knew that my sister had made him changes his dirty shirt Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. One of those days, he came back to the living room in another dirty shirt so he isn't putting the dirty shirts in the laundry.
He comes to my car yesterday and the shirt is dirty. He tells me it isn't dirty. I show him the two large spots. He says they don't matter. I say they do. He first says "not you too" and then says I will go change. He did come back in a clean shirt.
He still thinks my nephew went to my "music" with me when I went to the McCartney concert.

Great Article. We are expecting record breaking heat this week. While this heat may be normal for ❤ mollymouser ❤ it definitely isn't normal for our area. It makes me glad that I did spend the money to replace the wall AC unit. Hopefully it will keep the house tolerable rather than miserable this next week. I don't really hold out any hope for comfortable.

Our 10-day forecast looks dreadfully hot ~ typical for August. Nothing under 100, two days of 108, bunch of days 105-106. Yuck.
Tuesday, we're moving furniture around. Thursday and Friday ~ new flooring will be installed. (The materials were delivered yesterday)
Tigger is now on some pricey RX cat food ~ but it's settled his tummy down nicely. Ahh, the things we do for our senior pets.
Otherwise, just doing cat rescue stuff.

While I miss Blackie kitty I do not miss the $39.99 for a 6lb bag of dry cat food and the $1.10 a small can of wet cat food that she needed. Yes it gave her several more years and made her life more comfortable but the cost was insane. Especially since I fed both cats the same diet. Now Oreo gets to transition over to just regular senior food, no more special order food.

Sorry to hear you lost Blackie. Thank you. I don't think I posted over here about it. I lost her about 3 weeks ago. She either had a stroke or seizure very early on a Sunday morning and her back legs not longer worked. It was one of those situations where there was no doubt about what needed to be done. She was 17 years old

Blackie had a very long life, even though it is always hard to say goodbye.

We reached 107 degrees today which may have set a new all time high record for this area. Our air quality is horrid right now. They say the smoke is coming from a fire up in Canada. There is also a forest fire about 50 miles away. I don't have asthma or breathing problems but I found it hard to breathe today. They said the temps would have been higher but the smoke cover kept them down. Tomorrow will be a repeat of today.

Sharon, your weather sounds like our weather.
I am sorry about Blackie.
We've got the air off at the moment since the installers have the door open .... installing flooring is noisy! It's a balmy 103 outside and cloudy/humid/smoggy.
The cats are fairly freaked out by this, too.
Friday I will be at Petco while my wonderful DH is home with the installers. Saturday is a Petco day, too.

I am feeling so proud of Nephew3. He has been growing his hair to donate to Locks of Love. He has a friend with colon cancer. He had told me he was going to cut it in to a buzz cut when it was time for the donation. He was hoping his hair would be long enough before he goes back to teaching. I was talking to sister on the phone and he walked in. His hair is now in a buzz cut. He did it! I love that young man. Heart of gold.

I don't know if this is good or bad. We have so much smoke in the area that the temps only got up to 103 today and not the 108 that was forecast. The air quality has been deemed unhealthy for everyone. They expect it to be this way until possibly next Tuesday.

I never liked when the Denver area had bad air quality from forest fires. The only good thing was the beautiful sunsets. It's also supposed to be nature's way of thinning the forests to keep them healthy.

We have new flooring! We have new flooring! Yay! Now to get everything back in the china cabinet! (ugh!) They do need to come back and fix one part of the baseboards. For those of you on Facebook, I posted pictures.
Four kitten adoptions at our Petco Adoption Center Friday and today ~ yay. We're also in the middle of our Summer Sponsor Weekend (trying to get more people to sign up to be once a month $15 sponsors).
Dentist appt next Thursday.
There was a story in the paper today that this past July was our 7th hottest in Fresno on record. I thought it was toasty! Fresno’s average high temperature for the month was 101.9 degrees. That’s 3.5 degrees hotter than the normal average high of 98.4, based on records that go back into the 1880s. July 2017 ranks seventh-hottest for Julys on record, with a mean temperature of 86.5 degrees for the month. Ugh. The next 10 days don't seem so bad with highs of 99-102 every day. (I already know that my power bill will be huge and scary.)

We are to having a cooler than normal first 15 days of August. We have not had dry spells this summer. The grass has stayed green. That is not the usual way. This is day 3 of sister's vacation. So far, dad and I are still getting along.

Went to see dad today since my sister is on vacation.
He picks up his grocery list and asks if I get his hearing aid batteries at the grocery store. No, don't get them there. He has only 3 left, so I made a trip to town to get him his last free box from when he upgraded his hearing aids last summer. Since he has 3 left, he will be fine until Thursday.
Then I asked if I could take a couple of mom's photo albums. He said yes, but when I turned around, he was wiping a tear from his eye. I felt bad. I have looked at the photos and the color photos need to scanned ASAP as they are so faded. Guess I will talk to my sister when she gets home to see if she thinks it would be easier on him if I just take them all at once.

Theotherme,
I think perhaps your Dad didn't understand that you intended to scan the pictures and return them. He probably thinks that you intend to take and keep them.

I am going to talk to him tomorrow. I will be taking one of the books back, but not the other one. The other one is actually a scrap book about me, so I am keeping that here.
The pictures I didn't get scanned last night can easily be done tonight.
Will try explaining again. I don't think he looks in albums. He probably doesn't remember that I have all of the slides. Mom gave those to me.

We should be having a cool down this weekend. I am really tired of the constant noise from having fans going. My water and electric bills are going to be very high also. The baby birds have hatched. The hanging basket where they are residing has died enough, from lack of water, that I can see little beaks poking up waiting to be fed.

Baby birds around me have all flown from their nests. I like that time of year because Lucy gets so much enjoyment from the baby birds.

I had the funniest thing happen this morning. It was about 5:15am and I was heading out to work and Oreo was by the back patio door making her there is something out there meow/yeowl. The light was on in the living room and it was still dark outside so it was difficult to see but I walked over there anyway to see if I could figure out what was up.
As I am walking over there I think I see Oreo's reflection in the patio door then I realize that no it isn't my Oreo it is someone else's Oreo on my back patio. I had heard from other neighbors about the cat that looks like my Oreo. It was a funny sensation to think you are looking at a reflection and then not have it move the right way.

Lucy was going crazy one night this summer after it got dark. She was throwing herself at the patio door. I went to the door and turned on the light. There was another cat outside.

The first part of the week was ideal summer weather, low 80's with low humidity. Things are a little warmer now. We are busy getting ready for the apoc-eclipse. I live in an area of totality and that is all we are hearing about. They are saying our area could see anywhere from 100,000 to 500,000 more people this weekend thru Tuesday. We have been warned that credit cards may not work because of system overload, traffic is expected to be gridlock etc. Right now it is looking like we should have decent weather and actually be able to see the eclipse on Monday.
Today I worked on getting my passport renewal sent in. Oregon doesn't comply with the Real ID Act so they are warning us that come Jan 22, our drivers licenses may no longer be valid for boarding a plane. My passport was close to expiring anyway and I was thinking about it so I just took care of that little job.

We have not been told our driver's license will not be valid to board a plane. I really don't want another passport as I have no plans to leave the US--unless I can figure out a way to move far away.
Took dad grocery shopping today. He wasn't happy that his cleaning lady wanted him to buy a new Swiffer mop and a new toilet bowl brush. I told him I bet his old ones are no longer doing a good job.
