Lucy was bad last night. I was talking to my sister on the phone and she tried to jump on my computer desk. In doing so, she knocked it over. Luckily, I managed to grab the laptop itself, so it did not hit the ground. Everything else did. While I am cleaning it all up, she is in the window looking at something. Guessing that is why she tried to jump from lying beside me to the back of the couch. Didn't work.

I feel like a sloth today. It is taking me forever to get anything accomplished. I have needed a lot of breaks today. Oreo's eye has been watering all spring. When she was in for annual exam the vet renewed the eye drop prescription with no problems. I will admit to not administering them regularly but only giving her some when her eye is watering badly. Today she had green puss in the corner of her eye. Guess I will need to get those drops in her eyes a little more regularly but I suspect a visit to the vets is in our future.

Hope Oreo's eye is okay, but green puss isn't good.
My sister and BIL brought mom's desk over to me last night. I had it for probably 30 years, then it went to sister. Now she doesn't want it so I have it back. I am happy to have it back as mom and I stripped it and stained it together years ago. I had the chair cushion reupholstered maybe 15 years ago.
Lucy didn't know what to think of a dog being in the house.

Worked the Adoption Center Friday. Worked the Adoption Center Saturday. Worked the Adoption Center Monday. Slept in today, and went out to lunch and then grocery shopping.
We paid $3,100 in car repairs on the Explorer on Saturday. Ouch. Guess that's what an emergency fund is for, right?
We're forecast for 103 Saturday, 104 Sunday, 107 Monday, 106 Tuesday, 108 Wednesday,.... I suspect the air will be coming on in there, somewhere. Yuck.

Oreo is not happy with my new found diligence in apply eye drops, but her eye is doing much better. I hadn't been out to the garden in several days because we have had so much rain. I picked 2 huge bowls of strawberries and there will be another big bowl or two yet to come. I also picked the first raspberries of the season. Raspberries are my preference and it appears that I will have a good crop this year. We have been so cold that I actually turned the heat back on in the house over the weekend.

Very hot and humid here.
Happy to hear Oreo's eye is doing better. That is the idea. I do know how hard it is to give a cat any kind of medication. Have some old scars to prove it.
A/C has been running. I keep it at 78 in the house, which isn't all that comfortable.

I think tomorrow is our last day in the upper 90s.... after that, Hell arrives and we're as high as 110 and 111 for the next week. OMG.
Petco adoption center tomorrow.
I need to get a blood test on Monday morning.
Maybe I'll hibernate?
And, yes, I will be turning on my ac by Sunday!!!

I'm having a terrible time with a hateful family member. K. yelled and cursed at me for several things when I haven't done anything to her and I haven't done anything wrong at least not in several years. She screamed about something from 26 years ago. I have no idea what it's about. I wracked my mind and still couldn't remember anything. So I texted and said that I can't figure out what you could possibly be upset about from 26 years ago. Then, she asks me on the phone what was that strange text? Like she had no idea what it was about. . .

That is scary, Peace.
Lucy is being lazy. When I got home from Madison the other day, she had "found" one of her many lost toys. She was playing with it while I showered this morning, but now I don't see it. Guessing she probably knows where she put it.

Peace77 is there another family member who can intercede and maybe get K to calm down. It sounds like what happened 26 years ago only happened in her mind.

Lucy found her toy and played with it in my bedroom about 3:30 AM. I am guessing that is when the thunderstorms stopped that were keeping both of us awake because of the very loud thunder. I did get a little sleep before she woke me and some after, but I'm tired.

103 Saturday, 107 Sunday, 110 Monday, 110 Tuesday, 108 Wednesday, 108 Thursday, 106 Friday, 102 Saturday, 102 Sunday, 102 Monday ....... AAAAAUUUUUGGGGGH! Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap Crap ~ I HATE HOT WEATHER LIKE THIS! (Abysmally bad air quality, too)
Peace ~ could your family member have the beginnings of memory issues? Or maybe a bad reaction to a medication? That seems so random.

My sister is at it again. We talked on Wednesday and she asked what I was doing for Father's Day. I said I had no plans other than taking him to lunch on Saturday and giving him his card and Dairy Queen gift card. She then said "we're having a cookout" and said no more about. So late this afternoon I called her to tell her of dad's reaction when I told him I am taking him to the eye doctor on Tuesday. During the conversation, she says you can come if you want to but you have to bring your own food. I will stay home and listen the The Beatles station on Sirius celebrate Paul McCartney's birthday.

K. has been working a lot of hours at a new job so she may be stressed from that and more time commuting. I know that my family tends to talk about me behind my back.
It's my Dad that's having memory issues. Yesterday, he forgot how to use the shower. He came out complaining that he had taken a cold shower because he couldn't get any hot water. I checked the shower and he had the knob turned all the way to the right. Yeah, when the knob is 100% on cold water that's all you get. He's lived in the same house over 30 years so it's nothing new.
I think K's main problem is anger. She's angry about a few things so might as well throw in everything including my DH getting free, unordered address labels in the mail.
I don't know anyone who could talk to her.

Thou shalt not covet other people's free address labels. Oh my.... that seems pretty silly to be mad about.
Theo ~ good for you for staying home. "You can come, but bring your own food" isn't really much of an invitation.
We turned on the ac tonight ... just too darn hot.

Later she will tell me that I don't come to things when invited. I have told her before that I don't like last minute invitations that seem like an afterthought. This one was worse than that.

My dad is having memory issues also. So far he can shower. However, he doesn't seem to be able to shave very well. The one thing he is very good at remembering is to buy his lottery tickets. Every thing else he remembers is from way back when. It makes me sad.

I've been watching kittens being born on Instagram all day. Foster mom thought there were 4 kittens as that is what sonogram showed. However, mama cat seems to be in labor again and foster mom says there is something moving still. Now waiting for 5th kitten to arrive.
The other four have been nursing from their very young mama. This will be the only litter of kittens she ever has.

Worked in the yard today before we heat up for the weekend. We won't be anywhere near the temps that ❤ mollymouser ❤ is experiencing but it will still be plenty warm for our area.

112 today. I kept the air on all day long. I am trying not to think of our power bill. The pool is tepid. 108 Wednesday. 111 Thursday. 107 Friday 105 Saturday 104 Sunday 101 Monday (that will be the 10th day in a row!) No surprise, but the air quality is "unhealthy" (sigh) Next week, we're "cooling down" to the upper 90s. Clearly, we've done something to piss off Mother Nature. I did some bill paying today, and hid inside for the entire day until about 4:45 when I went out to the pool. The sun was blistering and the water was warm. I kept spraying myself with the garden hose while in the pool ( which makes for soggy reading.) I am actually glad that Friday and Saturday are Petco Adoption Center days .... let someone ELSE pay for my air conditioning. Think cool thoughts.

Took dad to get his eyes examined yesterday. He was very upset that the doctor was running behind. Also because he had to wait for his eyes to dilate. Then he was more upset because he needs glasses and they cost money!
While sitting beside him, I noticed his handkerchief was dirty. I asked him if that was clean in the morning and he said no. Sister told him to wear a clean shirt yesterday and he did. He also isn't shaving every day and he needs to. I don't know what to do. If he wants to stay in independent living, he has to take care of himself.

Theo, remind me again ~ how old is your father?
108 today. Went to the post office to mail a package and hit the grocery store this morning, when it was only in the 90s.

TheOtherMe we had those same issues with my Grandpa. He didn't seem to notice that his shirt was dirty or stained. Sometimes he would make the comment about how he doesn't do anything anymore so he doesn't get as dirty as he used to. He just never noticed the food all down his front. It only got marginally better when he went to assisted living. They would do his laundry but only if he put it in the laundry basket. Once in a while one of the assistants would suggest that perhaps his shirt needed to be washed. He complained about the cost of having his laundry done so Mom ended up taking over that chore. She would go through his clothes hanging in the closet and take the dirty ones. She also worked on some of the old stains and was able to get some of them out also.

Dad is 93.
Dad knew the handkerchief was dirty as he was embarrassed when I asked him about it. My sister has taken some of the shirts home and washed them. He has a washer and dryer in his apartment, so it shouldn't be this hard.
Mom and dad had both said they didn't do things anymore so their clothes didn't get dirty. I know when mom was alive laundry was being done twice a week and very small loads. Mom would be so embarrassed if she could see the way he is taking care of himself. So embarrassed. We may have to play that card on him.

Dad was wearing his new glasses when I took him to lunch today. I could actually see his eyes because his glasses weren't all scratched up. He told me he did not need new glasses and he doesn't see any better. So there!
He was also wearing a clean shirt and had a clean handkerchief. Wonder if my sister talked to him?
