Why do I love these things?

I had one of those styrofoam cups filled with ramen noodles, some dehydrated veggies, and fake chicken broth for lunch. Fill with boiling water and presto, lunch. Why do I eat those things? They're awful, but I love them.

I just bought some Ramen a couple of weeks ago at the grocery store. There's enough sodium for three day's worth of food, but sometimes I've just gotta have it.

Ramen was my staple in college. I swore after I graduated that I would never eat them again and I didn't for about 10 yrs. Went back to eating them every now and then a few yrs ago.

DH grew up on canned green beans. He now realizes they are far inferior to fresh green beans, but they are "comfort food" to him. We cannot have spaghetti (that I make from scratch) without canned green beans.

DW and I beat an addiction to frozen pizzas. Those ultra-cheesy ones like Freschetta or DiGiorno are DEATH traps! Sure, the box says 2 slices is a portion, but we'd inevitably split the pizza (so 4 each). That was a good thousand calories and the days sodium well spent...

ETA: and if it was just me, and I got a supreme or meat lovers, then it was possibly to spend the whole days calories and 3 days sodium in one sitting. But boy, what a sitting...!

We found a reasonably healthy brand, I think it was Amy's. I think the total was 750 calories and not too much fat, so splitting it was OK.

Ramen gives me horrible migraines! My youngest son likes them so I will sometimes buy them for him but not very often. He also LOVES canned raviolis and I absolutely despise the smell of them. I won't buy them so my MIL will give him a case of them at Christmas. He already sent Granny an email asking for more canned raviolis.

I have a thing for McDonald's french fries. When it is shark week...I want wine, chocolate, and McDonald's french fries.

haha, I actually think they taste better than the rest of the over-salted frozen selections. but I don't use a lot of salt in my cooking either, maybe that's it?

The ravioli smell reminds me of the cafeteria at school!

It is the salt. It is addicting, and a difficult habit to break.

When I stopped eating frozen lunches (lean cuisines, etc.) I immediately noticed that I drank half the amount of water during the afternoon as I did before. When I did the math on just how much sodium I was taking in - I was a little horrified. I still miss it every once in a while.

I buy the "expensive" ramen noodles - Yakisoba and another brand - that come in a small container. They are about $1 each. I keep in my office at work for days when I don't bring a lunch and don't want the expense/time to go out for lunch.

I don't really like them, but at least it helps me last until dinner.

DS14 loves Ramen. I always steal some for myself when I make it for him. Have the pufferfish thing going the next day but it is sooooo yummy.

I generally don't go for salty stuff. Given a choice between chips and cookies, it's cookies every time.

They may be awful nutritionally....but they are delicious if you want a simple quick meal that tastes good. ;D

I beg to differ. You are getting nearly half your sodium in (probably) 10% of your calories. Maybe you don't need chips because you have already satisfied that salty thing by eating the ramon. What is in those things - like 800 mg of sodium? One serving of potato chips probably has a quarter of that, but the similiar number of calories (and then I eat 4 servings in one sitting - so it doesn't work out either way.)

I love them, but I don't eat them very often. I consider them in the same category of cheesecake. Would love to have it every day, but I don't.

Oh I rarely eat Ramen. When I was a teen I ate it almost every day but I also ran track and could burn it away in a heartbeat.

Now, I have about 10 packs of Ramen for a "just in case I need it" reason. I may eat Ramen about twice a year.

I love ramen. I survived off of it in college and the addiction never really went away. It's quick, easy and something the kid will not attempt to bug me while I eat. When I ate the cups I always ate the veggies before I cooked it. I like the crunch. Now I just eat the packets.

I put the picture's address in google and it is called Zhajiangmian. Per Wiki, it is a Chinese dish consisting of thick wheat noodles topped with a mixture of ground pork stir-fried with "zhajiang" which is salty fermented soybean paste.
