We all love to bitch about bad service.
I think it's time to sing the praises of good service.
Today I left a message with my mortgage representative (Fifth Third Bank). He called me back in less than 5 minutes.
Why am I impressed?
1. It's a bank holiday 2. The deal I'm looking at is small potatoes to this guy. 3. and finally, he gave me the answer I wanted! ;D
What is your good customer service experience?

This isn't my story, but a friend of mine on FB:
"This afternoon I was at Whole Foods picking up some groceries. Before checking out I went to buy a latte and discovered that my credit card wasn't working. I knew that shouldn't be the case so I stepped to the side to call the bank. I was on with the bank for quite some time and they kept telling me it should be fixed and to try it again but to no avail. I had Charlie in his carrier and a carr iage full of groceries that I knew I was going to have to leave at the market. At this point a WF employee came over and asked if I had any more shopping to do. I said that I was going to get a rotisserie chicken. She went to get it and when she returned, began bagging up my food. I was still talking to the bank so it took me a minute to realize what she was doing. When I looked up she said, "Don't worry. We've got this for you." I said, "Wait, what? You are giving these to me?" She answered that she was and of course I got all teary told her she didn't need to do that and she said, "It's no problem. It's snowing. We've got it." So there you go. Some pretty awesome kindness from Whole Foods. You can be sure I'll be making a nice donation to their charity next time I check out."

I had a separate thread about it, but I recently called Honda customer service about a repair I needed that wasn't under warranty. They ended up doing a $3500 repair for $250. I later learned it was to my benefit that they didn't cover the whole repair. If they cover it 100%, then there is no warranty. Because I paid a token amount, I have the regular 36K/3 yr warranty on the repair.
I was extremely impressed with their customer service & every person I spoke with on the phone.

One time after shopping at Walmart, I got home and checked my receipt and found that I had been charged for 63 ears of corn, instead of the 6 that I bought (honest mistake, the 6 is just above the 3, cashier probably pushed both at about the same time). It was like $25 extra. I thought there was no way I would get my money back, since I couldn't prove I ddn't buy them. On my next trip I went to customer service, they were super nice, after laughing about buying 63 ears of corn. The customer service rep was going to refund the whole amount, when I reminded her I actually did purchase 6.

Your wife told you this story didn't she?

I recently took a fairly long trip on Amtrak (Baltimore to St. Louis and back) and received excellent service from every Amtrak employee I encountered. The trip involved three trains in each direction, and I did not encounter a single Amtrak employee who was anything but pleasant and helpful.

I recently canceled my Costco American Express card and my Costco membership, both of which I wasn't using. Both the American Express and the Costco company reps were speedy, nice, and very helpful. I couldn't have asked for anything better than their performances, because both were perfect. Unfortunately, neither place offered a satisfaction survery after the interchanges, or I would have given them very high ratings.

I went through the McDonald's drive thru a couple months ago and placed my order. When I got to the window to pay I realized I left my wallet at home. I told the girl to just put my order to the side and I'd be back in 15 minutes. She said "no don't worry about it, it's on me". It was $3 or so, and it almost appeared that she was reaching into her own change purse to take care of it. What can you really say at that point other than give lots of thanks and praise.

I had a wonderful experience at the local Wendy's. The staff was friendly, the food was hot, it was made quickly & to-order. Unfortunately around here that kind of experience is not the norm at all. I asked to speak to the manager and gave a compliment for the staff.

There is a company out of Boulder, Colorado that ever time I order from them they send me a freebie. I got a beautiful CD of yoga music and a wonderful book on contemplation.

I just got off the phone with my Old Navy credit card. I've been really disorganized the last few months and I've racked up late fees and interest. Usually I pay off every credit card in full every month. I called to cancel because it was silly to keep forgetting the bill and being charged $25. The lady was really nice and refunded me all the late fees I've paid, deleted the late fee for this month, and also refunded me the interest I've paid. I think it helped that I admitted it was all my fault and was nice during the call.
