My firm sponsors a tree for the Hospital Festival of the Trees fundraiser.
How it works: You buy a christmas tree from them, and you decorate it. It's then auctioned off on a Saturday night. They also have a silent auction and other fundraisers going on.
In the past I've done: Mexican fiesta (margarita makings, chips, salsas, jalapeno lights), Summer on the Water (life jacket lights, beer, chips, boat accessories), Beer Lovers (self explanatory), Baseball.
This year I was thinking an Adirondack theme, or a Git er Done (tools) theme.
Any suggestions?

How about a Disney theme or cartoon characters theme? Kids would love that. A Sports tree. Music themed tree with boy bands like One Direction or Big Time Rush, etc. Depends on who you are really trying to appeal to i guess.

A Game tree - with a bunch of classic board games - cards, poker chips, monopoly, jenga, trouble, connect 4, etc.
A Movie tree - popcorn, classic movie candy and movies - Elf, The Grinch, along with any classics. You might be able to buy them used on Amazon or at a used store for a dollar each. The DVDs are pretty light, so you could actually hang them really easily.

I actually bought the Disney tree a few years ago. the proprietor of a funeral home's daughter interned at Disney and had a whole pile of disney ornaments.

A guy does handmade fishing lures, so I can't compete with him.
Baker, maybe.
Dried meats. Um, it's generally a bunch of women, lol.

To go with your margarita theme - maybe a coffee theme. You could attach beans, and scone mix from Williams sonoma, and coffee mugs that said different things, coffee press or coffee maker, and that set of cute pictures that say "Cappacino" and "Latte" and a CD from starbucks that makes you feel guilty, and hate indy music, all at the same time.

Aw, don't put Hoops on your tree. It's not nice. Although given some of what Cawiau has posted about himself and sex with the Mrs., maybe you could see if he's available. Seriously... A golf tree A gamer's tree (not sure what's hot right now for gamers - I'd have to ask a kid, or Dark)

A reptile tree. You can hang all the supplies needed to have your own Archie - including an Archie!

How about a cocktails tree? Have different types of glasses, mini liquor bottles, and little pink umbrella's as decorations.

Bath tree with oils, etc. I love the coffee tree idea. Or you could do a mani- pedi tree.

A tea tree, dainty cups with different kinds of tea, scones, biscuits and other tea related things would be fun! A rum tree, with rum balls, rum and chocolate... Ohhhhh, chocolate tree!!!

Few years ago a group of us decorated a tree for our local Festival of Trees in a patriotic theme. We found large red/white/blue bulbs that were gorgeous.

Woodland Theme - White tulle ribbon swathed through the tree as garland, white plastic stags/deer, birds, with white twinkle lights.
Tea Tree - Use Tazo tea packets, they have lots of color variation (although this is more work because you will have to string hangers into the packets). And get a childs plastic tea set in a complementary color to place throughout the tree.
Olde Worlde Tree - You will need to hit up the flea market for Victorian cards, mini calendars, mini Christmas books & a variety of santa figures.
Winter Comfort Tree - Hot Toddy packets, mugs, cinnamon sticks, nuts, dried fruit
Crafty Tree - Cross Stitch kits, beads & wire, jewelry kits, pencils, little drawing notebooks, paints, embroidery yarn, knitting needles & yarn balls.

The baking tree would be neat with lots of cookie cutters instead of ornaments.
Or what about a chocolate lovers tree? Lots of shiny Ghiradelli bars and hot chocolate packages and some pretty mugs and mixes for brownies and chocolate desserts.
