I'll throw in a 23 yo Male. This one is 6'4 so he can save you the trouble of getting out a ladder. Bonus: comes with a phone permanently attached to his texting finger.

I've served my time, and I'm too worn out to do it again. Sorry. Can't you just send them to the store for a loaf of bread and move while they're gone. Geez, woman! Use your imagination

Sad but true, Miss Rigby, When I was growing up I had a cousin that was truly an evil SOB. Among the many things he did before I lost track of him was put out 4 of my front teeth with a baseball bat. He was there after forbidden from our home, although it wasn't his first evil deed. Any how, he was such a horrible person, his parents moved away when he was 17. None of the family heard from them again for 15 years.

My DD is 13 and DS is 16. Those were the easy days.
I have to agree with Malarky, these are the easy days. Not only that but they are the cheap days. Right now you can be a hero for $20 with a new toy. Just wait until the average thing they want for Xmas is $500 or God forbid, they want a car. Also I'll add that they are smarter now than they will be at some time in their teens (they go brain dead).

Holy carp, you're not kidding!! I realized my son had become a teenager when he called me one morning to ask how you get the clothes in the dryer. REALLY? He'd just done it the week before. I tried not to get mad when I told him "You take them out of the washing machine and put them in the dryer" Wow...

Sorry IHOP, english and the little bit of Spanish they picked up from Dora and Diego. A little bit of training goes a long way. When DS1 was ~14 he could swear in 43 languages (he went to an international school) so my house rule was: if I am mad and you say something I can't understand you are in trouble buster"

I had a friend who explained it was all due to the teenage monster. It comes around 13 years old, scoops out their brains and returns the brains when they are around 20.

I had to nicely explain to my college age DD that you cannot wash your red CASHMERE sweater AT ALL let alone with your whites while several people were listening in. Of course she had ALREADY put it in the washer so I told her VERY CALMLY to take it out NOW, drain the water, and start over. Sigh.

I was VERY proud of myself for not freaking out. She's got an IQ over over 130 and she wants to wash red with whites in hot/warm water? WTF!!!! I didn't even bother to explain that cashmere cannot be washed in a washing machine. Although I now see washable cashmere in stores.

Both Boys! 9 year old meat-head wanna be jock, thinks he will be drafted in high school. Very smart and gifted, however is willing to get by on his looks and charm. 10 year old braniac know-it-all. Thrills in questioning authority until you prove you actually know what your talking about. Loves video games and books. Fairly low maintenance. Hurry before they get taller and bigger than me, and think they can take me...or just think I am too old to care about..

Every time I turn around we are writing a check and it is definitely not for $20. By the time she was 8 she wanted to play the French horn. Do you know how much a French horn costs?!?! My first statement was why can't you not practice on a $300 clarinet?

I thought you were just moving to a cheaper apartment to save money, but they don't take kids.
Plus - kids that age really need a backyard to run around in.

I would have given both of my brothers away growing up. Apparently being the older sister means when they are adults and doing something stupid your parents call you to talk some sense into them. I didn't give them away and I didn't kill them and they grew out of it. They turned 24 and 25 in December. The 25 year old still does some stupid shit usually dealing with baby momma drama but he's better. The 24 yr old and his best friend made my dad's day the other day when he heard the story. They took his best friend's wife to work at her hospital (this was the night of the rush hour snowstorm in DC). Anyway while they were there they found out about an older guy who's wife had a stroke and he wasn't going to be able to get home. They took the guy home and wouldn't take his $40. The guy insisted so when my brother's friend was helping the guy across the street and into his house, he put it back in his pocket. Sometimes he's getting on my last nerve and then he goes and does something like that. My grandma had 2 sons, my brothers, and another grandson. She swears boys have to be at least 23 before they straighten up and quit acting like idiots.

My brothers at 17 were not as mature as they are now. I guess it depends on the kids? I see a lot of people on here saying their kids my brother and I's age are still annoying but I think we are pretty good. We have jobs we go to, we try to help each other out, 2 of us have college degrees, the other works in a field where professional licenses matter and he has them, the one with a kid is a great dad, etc. I don't think my dad was lying to me the other day when he said he thought he had good kids.

I think my kids are more mature now than I expect them to be later. They are currently compensating for me being such a weirdo.

Y'all are making me very happy I did not have kids.
My brothers did, though. Right now, between their two homes, they have a five year old boy who sleeps about 2 hours a night and runs like a marathoner the rest of the time; two preteen girls (12 and 13) who are going to make eye-rolling and complaining the next Olympic duathlon and a teenage girl (14) who has every answer in life before you ask the question.
I have no idea how parents cope without an infusion of alcohol and/or humor.

I suppose I do have higher expectations. I was a homeowner, a mom-to-be, "settled." He is Mr. Party Boy STILL, for pete's sake. He doesn't cause me any grief, never did (that was his sister's job) but when do boys grow up? Ever?
