Yay for one project done. Sorry to hear about the neighbor's dog. Maybe it will be the incentive they need to stop allowing their dogs to run wild. Focus on eating healthy with lots of veggies and at least 3 oz of protein at each meal and you should do great.

I found it helpful to keep a running to-do list. I got to feel accomplished when I crossed something off, and when it was all written down I didn't feel like I was forgetting anything.
As someone who was GD once, the easiest way to count carbs is in units of 15. You get 15 for breakfast, 45 for lunch, 30 for dinner. Bread is 15. I'm making these up, follow what the doctor says, but the idea is to count them in units of 15. Makes it much easier.

It's all about doing what you can with what you have time for. If you are overwhelmed, you may have to cut your hours back or not commit to so many activities, which can be very difficult.

So, what do you do to stay calm when there is too much going on at once? It may sound stupid given the source, but in the words of Major Charles Emerson Winchester III "I do one thing at a time, I do it verywell, and then I move on." Heard that as a kid. still works for me when I get in over my head. Love me some MASH!!! for you muttlenyfelix. It's already the end of Oct 1. I'm so sorry about the dog. I'd have cried, and I don't have the excuse of being pregnant! I hope you're doing okay! ~~~I found it helpful to keep a running to-do list~~~ and... This is a constant for me regardless of whether or not I feel overwhelmed.

I figure I probably owe you all an update. I made it through my 2 weeks of insanity and didn't die or kill anyone. Deadlines were met at work. We had supper with DH's Aunt and Cousin twice and I went to all the continuing education I was suppose to. I did take DH to get his shot back on the 2nd. Unfortunately, he reacted really poorly to it. While I was out of town, the pain management specialists sent him back to his GP. His GP said she thinks he needs back surgery and referred him to a neurosurgeon and he goes and sees the neurosurgeon on the 29th. If he has to have surgery, if he can get it done before THanksgiving, he should be mostly recovered by the time I get done with maternity leave. So, we'll see what happens. My mom has offered to come down and stay for a week after DH has surgery. My MIL can help a couple days a week and we have friends from church that are also willing to help while DH can't lift. Fortunately, DS is to the point that we only very very rarely have to pick him up. We plan to take the next couple weeks to try to get things as ready for the baby as we can, get christmas stuff under control, and start stockpiling the freezer with food so that we don't have to worry about that in the next couple months. When DH had neck surgery, they were able to fit him in a week later. So, we want to be prepared for anything. Although, I don't know what will happen if they can't fit him in until after THanksgiving. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. I attended my Gestational Diabetes class and had my appointment with maternal/fetal medicine. My numbers so far look great and baby girl is looking perfect - almost 3 pounds right in the 50% for 29 weeks. The dr thought with how I failed the glucose test and my numbers so far that it should be manageable with diet - which is great because I totally cringed doing the practice insulin injection at my class. DS was not allowed to go to that dr. appt and since it was so early, he spent the night with his "church grandparents". The kid didn't even miss me. (He did miss me when I went for my conference in Arkansas though, I think he just had too much fun at our friend's hosue to miss us). Work is slowing down a bit and calming down a bit. No new crazy deadlines. Thanks everyone for your ideas and support. I do have checklists and I write everything down (usually about 3 times). With the plethora of dr appt, DH and I are having fun utilizing our new iPad to keep track of everything. It is nice to have everything written in one place where we can see it.

I tried to read this thread, but got an anxiety attack by the third sentence. Mutt - I feel for you. My life is kind of the same way.

Hang in there. I had two anxiety dreams last night. The first one was that we threw a HUGE birthday party for my son, and the day of the party, I found all the invitations still in the house. I had forgot to send them. (Like who send paper invitations to a kid's birthday party.) The second one was that my family was living with my mother and the kitchen was a disaster - dirty dishes and food everywhere. My mother is like OCD neat - so I always clean before she comes over. So clearly I was stressing out about the fact that my house is a mess. Of course, I woke up and wondered what went wrong in my life that I now had to move my family in with my mother! Ack!

Anxiety dreams are the worst! I have a recurring dream that I'm back in college and it's a week before the end of the semester and I realize I completely forgot to attend one class, and have to cram for the final... it's annoying, because I've had the dream so many times I KNOW I'm dreaming, but it still stresses me out.
Mutt, best wishes for you and your husband. I hope everything falls into place. DH is having surgery tomorrow and I'm stressed out from work, I can't imagine having to juggle a little boy and pregnancy on top of all that!

Muttleyn: Whatever you do, don't stress yourself over any of it. If they don't get done, they don't get done. During my pregnancy I had deadlines, dealing with a difficult client and on top of that my docuhecanoe and I didn't even make it to the 3rd trimester. Your work will just have to understand and give you help if you cannot do it. It sounds bad when I say it like that but it is what it is. It is not worth risking your pregnancy and I am sure your employer can't push you to the limit during a very delicate time...

It is not worth risking your pregnancy and I am sure your employer can't push you to the limit during a very delicate time... My work has been really understanding about my 14 million doctors appts. Well, they put up with me puking on the job all summer. So, dr appts are nothing My boss really stepped in to get some stuff done that he usually doesn't do. So, that was helpful. They are all pretty protective of me and DH doesn't let me push it at home. Of course, we've had 2 nights where I've been freaked out by contractions. One was definately weather related and the other was dehydration/overdoing it and my dr isn't concerned at this point. It is weird for me because I didn't have any of these issues with DS. No problem. I'm sure I will have something between now and the baby comes that will have me going nuts again. ;D Mid - DH's first surgery was the one that freaked me out the most even though it was simplest (it was also unnecessary, so that might have been part of it) and we had the fewest responsibilities. We are also blessed with wonderful family and friends that are willing to step in and help out with DS and I have a really understanding boss. Good luck to your DH. I hope it all goes well.
