No...I just learned about it. Like last night, when my wife made me white chilli instead of regular chilli, instead of throwing the pot of chilli at her in a fit of rage, I internalized the anger, and blew up at the kids at bedtime, when they whined about needing a story!!! <<RAGE>>

Do people actually improve? I think people only ever change old habits when they have the proper motivation to change. Such as 'Go to anger management and learn how not to call me a dirty whore when I iron your shirts wrong or I'm out the door.' Improper motivation is usually 'complete 10 sessions of anger management therapy or else you'll spend the weekend in jail.' Easy to sit through 10 sessions and not learn (or apply) a single lesson to your life, if there is no downside to you not learning it.

I know that with my DS, he can go from 0 to Major Rage in about 1 second... He has had a decent amount of "anger management training" and it did seem to help somewhat. He no longer hits walls or things like that. He is also very respectful to me and others, even when really angry. He has learned to remove himself from the situation before it blows up.

I used to carry 3 golf ball drivers in my trunk. As the need arose, I would stop at random driving ranges and beat the heck out of a bucket or two of balls. I often stopped on the way home from work.

Isn't it what anger management is all about?
Now, if you ask if people actually get rid of their anger?? Well, me personally - there are some days better than others. But I am only angry about one area of my life. I've gotten MUCH better at dealing with it. I don't know if I became wiser or just too tired to care at this point

Age mellows the tempers of some. I was a lot more of a hot head in my teens and twenties than I am in my thirties. Still a hot head sometimes, but it takes more to set me off than it used to.

Age and experience can be a great teacher about picking your battles.
But I have run into some really bitter old people and I'm often amazed given how fortunate they seem to be. My MIL is like that. She still brings up the same crap about FIL. They've been divorced 40 years; he's been dead for over 10 and they both re-married two other times? Had they not divorced she would have been a MISERABLE housewife. Instead she went on to earn a graduate degree, had an amazing career in the Fed Government and has a pension that most people would dream to have as a salary. Go figure!
