Just a curiosity on my part but why do people change their screen names? Do you just get bored looking at the same one?
Except for the occasional Halloween costume, I've been Firebird since I started on these boards years ago. I don't mind the name changes (as long as they let us know it happened... I had no idea Rukh had changed her name until someone mentioned it and it was kind of jarring) but I don't really understand why people do it.

I started out as "do tell..." back at the old place because I wanted something innocuous. I think I used beerwench as either a Halloween costume or a St Paddy's Day costume and it seemed to suit me better (plus I had been posting for a while by then and was less worried about people knowing more about me) so I kept it and never looked back!

I didn't know that when you recreate your screen name that it can be the same name you used before. I also have decided to keep my location out of my online names...

I was JDinNYC on the old YM, but after we moved out of NYC, it didn't really fit anymore I barely ever posted under that name, anyway...

I don't particularly like my screen name, but I didn't have any great ideas for a screen name when I joined and I still don't. But if and when I come up with a good one and change it, I'll be sure to let you know.

I change mine when Loony or Doxie threads really test the imagination. I always come back though.
It is almost time for Halloween costumes. Virgil must be so excited!

I've had 4 screen names since 1999 (not including the halloween names.) The first one reflected the fact that I was trying to get out of debt. The second name was because something went wrong with my account and I had to re-register and it wouldn't let me keep my first name. I made it something similiar. The third name was completely different because I was totally out of debt and my first name didn't seem appropriate any more. The real catalyst for change was that MSN published our email address, and I pissed someone off and they were sending angry emails to me. My email is my real name. The guy left me alone, but I figured if I was going to be an asshole, I should protect myself a little better. The last change was because my third name ended up being hard to shorten, so I wanted to move thyme to the front of my name so people would stop calling me wasted.

I did it as a joke....and to denote where I'm at in recovering from this medical misadventure. I went from a full feeb to a half feeb, and in a couple weeks should be going to rehab feeb when they put in my last hip in a couple weeks.
Feeb came from when my friend came out right out after my first surgery and told me that she didn't realize I was this much of a feeb.
Still have Mich in the title though.....

I keep moving!
I started out carefreeap because that was the town I was in + my initials. With the board change I then became Bonnap. The folks in Bonn love puns so with the holidays I really had some fun. Then some posters started calling me Bonny, and even though I've moved again I still like it. I like having the upbeat name since dealing with how much work we need to do is quite depressing and can seem overwhelming.

Eh- I'm too lazy to change my screen name even though I moved out of California in late summer 2009. But I set up an email account using my screen name when I first joined the old msn boards like 5 or 6 years ago and it just stuck so that's the one all my friends use. My family sends emails to a different account and I have a 3rd email address for work.

I tried changing my name when we moved here to reflect my new start as a regular poster. I didn't feel like "me" so I went back to "my" name. I guess I like consistancy.

Well, my original name on MSN was mine and my husband's name put together. Then I changed it to Angel33 because my name is Angel and I was 33. My new name explains everything. I AM An Angel ;D!

I keep thinking I should change my name. There are a few people in this world who would associate my name with me IRL so it isn't as anonymous as I'd like. But, so far I've been lazy and it does seem like it would confuse people here.

I've only changed my name once or twice for the holidays. But I've always been Peace of Mind since I came to MSN. Same as in RL. T-Bird is still T-Bird to me. I can't help it. I've always liked her and her name and she'll always be that to me.

Yeah, the Tbird -> Rukh totally threw me for a loop too, I had no idea. I was also shocked to learn LA808 turned out to be Lonewolf. I've always been some form of Phoenix, but I used to have it misspelled until people complained about it so I corrected it. A common misconception though is that it means I live in Phoenix AZ, which has never been the case. Phoenix refers to the mythological bird. I've thought about changing my avatar, but I have to compete with fire bird over fiery birds .

I don't know, Phoenix, this one is pretty kick-ass! And no one would confuse it with Firebird.

My old name was similarly uninspired and it changed after the same incident MT is talking about. No, I'm not telling. If you haven't figured me out already, then you didn't notice me in the 1st place at MSN

I think Phoenix was taken when I joined the boards, so I used Firebird instead.
