Seeing his scheduled execution date is January 16, 2013, there is plenty of time to put him on an all salad (no dressing) diet along with a treadmill.

How the frack did he get so fat if he's in jail for 29 years? They don't allow him to partake in the Amish '10,000 Steps a Day' exercise program.

His lawyers may think he is too fat. I would suggest we try executing him - if it doesn't work, then we will reconsider!

Yeah, that's Ohio. I used to work for the department of corrections; he's in the maximum security prison. Last I knew, they were allow an hour of day of rec time but free to do whatever they wanted (so he could have just stood/sat there). Otherwise, they are locked in their cell all day. They have access to a commissary, with lots of typical snacks (candy, chips, ramen noodles, etc).
Of course if they were to implement Tennesseer's idea, it would be "cruel and unusual" punishment.

Someone must be giving him a lot of money for the commissary then.

Also one of the cases where the inmate go a reprieve from the death penaly was because that state used hanging and they were afraid of his head ripping off from the weight and the noose. Not a comparison for lethal injection...

Why not just gas him to put him under (in a nice, peaceful way), and then finish him off once he's out?
Too bad no one told these victims that they were supposed to be killed in a humane way.

Holy crap, I remember reading about this guy YEARS ago when I was in college!! They STILL haven't executed him?! (I'm against the death penalty but this is ridiculous.)

I do believe most people die on death row long before they are actually executed. There is a very long appeals process that can take decades.
Which honestly I am all right with rather than having an express lane. There have been tons of people who have been exonerated due to DNA evidence taht didn't exist when they were accused.
Of course this means that aholes can slow down the process forever too, but even aholes have a right to appeal.

You're making me giggle this morning.
The endless appeal cycle (which yes, everyone should be entitled to before we take away their life) and the attendant expense is a huge part of the reason I'm against the death penalty.

Yeah it seems kinda silly if they are going to die naturally before you execute them.

Plus the whole "whoopsie, looks like this guy wasn't guilty after all" that does occasionally happen. And the fact that poor people get executed more often than rich people.
Yeah, there's a lot of reasons I'm against the death penalty.
