I remember when Three Musketeers had 3 humps and could be broken to be shared.
Just a couple of days ago I purchased some Hershey Miniatures and they are awful. Made in Mexico. I don't know if my taste buds have changed or the mix has changed but I have stricken them off my list. M&Ms are bland but Hersheys is terrible.
I love See's, Morley's (Michigan), Cerretta's (Phoenix), a good Belgium, Dutch, German.

All this talk of chocolate made me hungry for some, so I had to go and get a couple of pieces of Dove. I know where the secret stash is!
I prefer Lindt, but will eat Dove in a pinch. We have a shop that makes their own chocolate near where I work, but I avoid it like the plague! If I go in there, my entire paycheck is going to be gone.
Now see what you made me do, I have to go buy some chocolate at lunchtime!

sesfw, Hershey's has changed their formulation, and now uses less cacao in their recipes. I agree, the stuff tastes like crap. I don't buy Scharffenberger for the same reason. Hershey's bought them out, and changed their formula, and it tastes awful now.
I use Lindt 72% and 85% mixed when I make truffles; the combination never fails to make great truffles.
For eating, if I can find Valrhona or Michel Cluizel from France, Callebaut from Belgium or Amedei from Italy, ut's a really, really good day.

My favorite is a German brand called Ritter Sport. I used to only be able to get it from family over there, but in the past few years I've been able to get it at an import store.

The grocery store closest to me sells Ritter chocolate. I had no idea it was imported. It is a higher end, organic market, no prepackaged meat, etc.

yummmmm! I've been thinking about chocolate all day, and I may have to break into my dove stash. DH got me 4 bags of dove dark chocolates last Christmas (no, not a month ago, 13 months ago) and I'm on my last bag. But the good news is that I've got some chocolate stockpiled for the worse case scenario! Who cares if it's only semi-sweet chocolate chips? I can eat those by the handful if nothing else is available!

Beff, don't cry. The very least we can do is take up a battery collection for you. The second choice is to hit on the J, he's even easier than I am

Are you coming down with something?? No, I was choking on my coffee. The thought of an angelic pirate penguin was a little too much for me.

'Who cares if it's only semi-sweet chocolate chips? I can eat those by the handful if nothing else is available!'
So can I. I have to keep them in a can and in the back corner of pantry. I've noticed the flavor of them have changed also. Chocolate chip cookies aren't at good any more either. My taste buds must have changed. <sigh> Getting older is the pitts.
