Today I'm reflecting on the joys of grocery shopping as I forgot to buy an item yesterday and decided I'd wait until today to go back to the store and get it. When you forget something do you go back out again that day or do you wait? Also, how do you deal with sale items in a display in your store when made inaccessible by massive restocking? I was lucky the Rubbermaid containers were still on sale when I went back to the store but last time I couldn't get to the one I wanted as it was pinned in by huge pallets of shrink wrapped groceries. That day I decided I would go without as I didn't want to deal with talking to customer service, etc.

It depends how critical the item is. If it's something I can work around till I get back to the store, that's why I'll do. If it's important, I'll head back.

I'm with TD on this one -- if it's something I have to have, I go and get it. If it's something I can do without, I don't.

True. I needed this item, but I could wait until today. I was also mad I had a well planned circuit of shopping yesterday to save gas and then I forgot my item at the last store.

My wife just sends me back out. LOL. I do most of the shopping. I agree TD2K. If it's something we can work around we do, otherwise make it another time. But sometimes, like guests coming, when you have to go back out and get it.

I've forgotten to get the one thing i needed to go to the store for. I'm going for one thing then I decide I need some other stuff so I write the other stuff down, but not that ONE thing.

They love us going back. Have you ever just bought the one thing you forgot? I go to Wal-Mart with a list and always buy something not on the list. I don't ever buy from the section they put at the checkout line.

I wait, nothing is so important to make and extra trip I know something you'd go back out for For me it also depends on what else I have going on that day--even the stores on the other side of town are only a 10 minute drive from the house. I don't shop very often, and now that DS is older if it's just for one or two things I'll sometimes send him in to get it and I'll stay in the car and read.

LOL. When I got my driver's license my Mom never had to ask me twice to go get something for her if it meant a chance to take the car out.

Everything here is < 2 miles away. I make lists for the grocery store, Wal-Mart and Lowe's to save trips. I got a back pack and ride the bicycle in warmer weather. Even get beer that way. LOL

My dad wouldn't let me get my license until I was 18--it sucked because I had a job so I was walking home from work at midnight--being a cop you would think he'd realize it's safer for a teen girl to drive than walk a few miles so late at night.
I can't wait until DS gets his license!! He's going to be my errand boy and chauffeur! Only three more years...

The day my ex boyfriend got his drivers license he got the grocery list. If it had just been my dad I would have been the errand person. Stepmom wasn't keen on the idea. However, I was good enough to drive her son to school.

There are times I've forgotten an important item, gone back for it, suddenly remembered, "Oh, I also need this, oh I also need that".... and still forget to buy what I returned to buy.

I've done this many times now that I don't use the list anymore. But what's forgotten is not something I needed. So I wait til the next time to go shopping, then it's something of more importance, so I don't forget it. now cravings - I'll forget the Ruffles and think to get them on next trip, and forget again. But remember I forgot the Ruffles cause something at home triggered the craving.
